I am speaking of somebody under center managing an offense. That used to happen all the time. And coaches used to taylor (no pun intended) what skills they had with the better weapons. Clock control—running the ball—coupled with a defense that could hold the line, good things sometimes happened. AJ has more real experience—and is a smart hombre. Jake showed some athleticism and downfield awareness last night. Had there been a usable WR like Tee in the mix, perhaps those plays don’t die. Bottom line: they are at 5-5. 9-10 wins is going to get a team in. With the assorted talent on this erstwhile SB team, it is not beyond possibility to scratch out a 4-3 finish. Imagine if Burrow had not signed his record deal and then this injury had happened. His leverage would be extremely hampered, and the team may not have given him the extension and made him play out next season on the tag before doing so. I'm glad Burrow is locked in and will now have contract security while doing his rebab and not have to worry about that aspect. He is clearly the team's leader for the next 6 seasons, which allows him to genuinely help Jake do well, as he's no threat to his job (not that he ever would be anyway based on skill). 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
