Awesome updates!

Don't want to jump the gun just yet, but Daijahn Anthony may have been a 7th round steal.

I just watched that Kelsey Conway interview with safeties coach Jordan Kovacs posted above. When she asked Kovacs one young DB (she said it could be a safety or CB) for fans to keep an eye on, he mentioned Anthony first. Said that he feels like Anthony will make some plays after the pads come on (the interview is at least 5-6 days old.) That was at least 2 interceptions ago, maybe even 3 depending on when the interview was actually conducted.

I didn't have Anthony making the 53 man roster on opening day. Still got a long way to go and things can change in a hurry, but he's making a strong case to make the team. Turnovers are a point of emphasis for the coaches, and I believe he already has 2 more than any other player on the 90 man roster. He seems to be getting plenty of snaps with the 1st and 2nd teams too, which is pretty telling.

Saw where Malik Wright said Cam Sample was on the rehab field… assumption was he was working out, but then he said he got some bad intel, but that Sample was there on the field. No one has said anything about the extent of his injury so I wonder if they’re still evaluating?

DL has a lot of guys hurt so I’m sure they can use whatever they can get, at least for the time being. But always good when other guys can get more reps. Hopefully Ossai stays healthy because I think he can get you half a dozen sacks or so.

Agree here and I believe that Burton and McLaughlan will end ip bring steals also

All will also be a stud it was a great draft and as BJ said a few months back all 10 picks may make the team

I'm wondering if Sample will be a surprise cut.

Hope not.

But seems like lots more versatile talent in a now very crowded tight end room.

He's closer to an H-back in usage & there's not so much competition in this RB group.

With 9 training camp practices already in the books, the early depth chart seems to be taking shape. It is quite different than what I expected just 2 weeks ago. Of course this could be change and likely will change once the team starts playing exhibition games, but this is what it currently looks like to me.

RB CBrown/Moss - Most people thought that Moss might get the majority of the snaps based on his production with the Colts last season, but it looks like Brown is in the top spot at the moment. No reason to think it is anything negative about Moss, just more about Brown being a little more dynamic.

WR - This position group is talented and deep behind Chase/Higgins. Just going by when the other receivers are playing and the way they are being discussed by Burrow & the coaches, I think this is the current ranking: WR3: Iosivas, 4 CJones, 5 Irwin, 6A Burton, 6B Shedrick Jackson. I don't think any of us expected the pecking order to look like this, I certainly didn't.

Iosivas has been the talk of camp. After a slow start Jones has come on like gangbusters, especially after the pads came on. Irwin is still reliable and getting plenty of work with Burrow. What's so jarring about Burton being this low is that I have not heard of him dropping any passes, and in fact has even made a one handed catch or two. He's even had a couple of impressive TD catches where he displayed tons of talent. The problem is that Logan Woodside was his QB on those catches. Burton has been on the field with Burrow very sparingly, and maybe not all lately. Not sure why. Jackson has actually worked with Burrow more often than Burton, and has produced in those opportunities. Like I said, unexpected.

DT - Here is another surprise area. When Rankins has been taking vet days, it seems like Zach Carter has been getting the extra reps. Not 2nd round pick Jenkins. In fact, it seems like McKinnley Jackson has been getting more snaps than Jenkins, maybe because he is the only true NT in camp. Hobson says that Jackson has impressed the coaches. But what about Jenkins? Guess he will get opportunities to impress in the exhibition games.

DE - This is easily the most injury-marred position group with 3 top guys down. Murphy has apparently been having a good camp, even if he has trouple getting past Mims. Ossai has been playing a lot as well, now that he's healthy. Cam Sample was on the rehab field yesterday although he didn't actually do work. It doesn't seem like his injury is season-ending as first feared.

DB - A couple of Day Three rookies have made a good impression here. 5th round pick Josh Newton has been running some with the first team a lot. Turner has had an excellent camp and seems likely to start at CB opposite Taylor-Britt. But is Newton overtaking DHill on the CB depth chart? Too early to tell. Daijuan Anthony has been the other surprise. Already has 3 interceptions in camp, one of which was against Burrow. He seems to be playing in some dime sets with the 1st teamers. We will see if that continues.

Good summary. I think Burton will be up there but the injury set him back a little bit. But to their credit, the other young guys like Yoshi, Charlie and Shed have all stepped up. I like Pryor, too.

Nice to see McK Jackson having a positive camp. Too early to say on Jenkins, IMO. But yeah, surprised on Zach Carter. He was a stiff last year but as a backup 3T and a guy who can rush the passer from end, too, he’d be an interesting depth piece. Will be an interesting battle between he and Jenkins for game reps.

But it’s still early. The PS games are a lot about depth guys, so it’s their opportunity to show out. Def some interesting “bottom of roster” battles. Wouldn’t shock me if, assuming good health, they traded away a few guys for late picks.

The punting competition will be interesting too. Actually, KR will be fun to watch across the league also. Likely the “good stuff” will get unveiled once the regular season starts, but it’ll be interesting to see what teams do beforehand.
