Yeah, when you see "carted off", you picture someone on the flatbed of the cart laying down, towel over the head, etc etc. No doubt some sensationalism here

A couple of beat reporters seem to believe Jackson's lower body issue was an ankle rather than a knee or Achilles injury.

* The body composition difference between Mims and Trent Brown is striking.

Mims at 350 lbs has very low body fat % and perfectly even proportions. While Brown looks like Jabba the Hut with a tire around his waist at 365? lbs.

Yeah, Trent did look surprisingly....gelatinous. I'm sure he's extraordinarily powerful, but that wasn't quite the look I was expecting.

The Cincinnati Bengals will host their preseason opener when the Tampa Bay Buccaneerscome to Paycor Stadium. Game time is set for 7 pm ET on Saturday, August 10th. The game will air on the Bengals Preseason TV Network. That’s FOX19 in the Cincinnati area. You can stream the game online using NFL+ and the NFL mobile app.

**** Not sure of the time or even day.

We saw it.

Both the same size.......

Hopefully he can give them something early before Mims takes over..

AFAIK Mims is still working with the 1's? I expect him to stay there if so...

I agree. TBrown has plenty of experience playing both LT/RT so he fits better as the swing tackle. Mims has worked exclusively at RT, and he needs all of the snaps he can get at that position. I get that Brown could start at RT, and if a LT is needed he could flip over and Mims could go in at RT. Just seems like too much shifting around to me. Better to just have Brown practice at both and go in wherever he's needed. Plus maybe in a backup role he would have an easier time staying healthy.

^ You also have the issue that Mims is locked up for 4-5 years and Trent is on a 1 year deal.

Mims is clearly the future. So get him started there now and leave him at RT for the next decade. Let Trent be your backup anywhere that's needed along the line (other than center) as he's your 1 season rental and not in the long term plans.

The only question that remains for me to be all in on Mims is his toughness/durability. By all accounts if he has those he has all-pro upside.

Only way to know about that is to put him in the grinder, and see how he grinds. Having three tackles to spell each other if necessary will hopefully take some of the pressure off.

Is anyone else considering a scenario where it's Mims on the Right Side and Trent Brown on the Left if OBJ doesn't improve?

... Problem is that OBJ is locked up for several more years and once you go down that path, you may be poisoning the well for a lazy 1 year flash in the pan who is injured after 6 games, while OBJ has never missed a game in the NFL.

OBJ is also a leader in the locker room who took Mims under his wings. While Trent Brown doesn't give a fuck about mentoring.

Not wrong but I'd still play the best 2 regardless. Zilch stunk it up last year. Don't care about contracts or even mentorship. Whoever gives the best chance to win games this season. Worry about who stays or goes when it's over.

Salary & draft pick can't govern the depth chart if they want to build a dynasty around JB. If that means bringing Trent back, drafting an LT and eating OBjr's contract maybe the FO isn't as smart as they think they are. Once again a matter of accountability. Don't keep making decisions based on who it might embarrass.
