Arkansas Bengal Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 The Bengals will get another chance to add the veteran. James Rapien | 2 Hours Ago Dec 15, 2024; Glendale, Arizona, USA; New England Patriots linebacker Yannick Ngakoue (55) against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images / Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images CINCINNATI — The Patriots are waiving former Pro Bowl pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue on Tuesday according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This gives the veteran a chance to latch on with a playoff team in the final week of the season. It's worth noting that the Bengals put in a claim for Ngakoue in November. The Patriots landed Ngakoue because they had a worse record and had a higher waiver priority. He had nine tackles and two quarterback hits in six games with New England. Could the Bengals put in another claim for him? It would be a tough turnaround with Cincinnati going to Pittsburgh on Saturday, but they'll get another shot at the veteran. Ngakoue is subject to waivers. The Bengals are 8-8 on the season and are 16th on the waiver priority list. https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/news/patriots-waiving-former-pro-bowl-pass-rusher-yannick-ngakoue-01jgenhtz9xb?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR09tj1hBTwG0le0YvV73m3vF_4xCya5_hsQs1iizkLT1SYEkOHFq3DRrvY_aem_BJ3obf-_G7lgX_1NlGCsww 1 Quote

Too many wins to get a in-demand waived player, too many wins to get a high 1st round draft slot...but not quite enough wins to make the playoffs. Quote

I remember a 5-year stretch when making the playoffs wasn’t “good enough”. 1 Quote

Thought for sure Marvin would have been called out too. After all, he kept on trotting out the supposed only-guy-on-those-teams-who-is-blamed-for-those-short-playoff-runs. Anyhoo, you weren’t the one calling that 5-year stretch “mediocrity” anyway. 1 Quote

He would be the 2nd best DE on the roster and it's not even close, since 2020 he has 33 sacks while all of the DEs on the active roster not named Trey Hendrickson has 14 sacks combined. I understand it's not going to happen because there's one game left, but why not if he can help the team win and I know he could. Quote

Marvin wasnt a championship level coach sadly (HC that is). he did his job, which was be a face and name and "presence" to attract from players as free agents and lend some credibility to the franchise, which he did very well, he truly turned the team around in many many many ways, any leftover "cheap" behaviors were seemingly squashed in his tenure, facilities were vastly improved, etc. Quote

Manuel (1) 4-Matt Barkley (4) 5-Landy Jones (8) 2014 1-Derek Carr (4) 2-Jimmy Garoppolo (5) 3-Teddy Bridgewater (3) 4-Blake Bortles (1) 5-A.J. McCarron (9) 2015 1-Jameis Winston (1) 2-Marcus Mariota (2) 3-Trevor Siemian (7) 4-Brett Hundley (6) 5-Sean Mannion (4) 2016 1-Dak Prescott (8) 2-Jared Goff (1) 3-Carson Wentz (2) 4-Jacoby Brissett (5) 5-Jeff Driskel (14) 2017 1-Patrick Mahomes (2) 2-Deshaun Watson (3) 3-Mitchell Trubisky (1) 4-C.J. Beathard (6) 5-Nathan Peterman (8) 2018 1-Josh Allen (3) 2-Lamar Jackson (5) 3-Baker Mayfield (1) 4-Sam Darnold (2) 5-Mason Rudolph (6) 2019 1-Kyler Murray (1) 2-Daniel Jones (2) 3-Drew Lock (4) 4-Gardner Minshew (10) 5-Jarrett Stidham (7) Other than trading up for the sure-fire prospect, what other one would have been this “have to have” in order to replace AD? And hindsight 20/20 doesn’t count. It is well-recognized that your feelings toward AD (infanticide notwithstanding) are not good. And this isn’t a debate about “who was/is/would become the best QB. Mine was a recollection of so many who were so dissatisfied with being in the playoffs, that they were wishing that the franchise would falter so as to get the primo QB draft-wise. Mission accomplished. Also accomplished was the removal of the HC who was the one who actually got them there. Mission partially accomplished with the replacement—although he is regarded as shit now. Now, the wailings of not making the playoffs are all over. And the usual “Fire this guy/hire that guy/sign this guy/cut that guy/draft this guy/sign that guy…are predominant. As an aside: checking on an Ohio State fan site today…the same exact people who were demanding Day’s head and expelling Howard from the program after Michigan…were loudly screaming praise and hosannas this morning. It’s just observation. A real Mad Max car chase. 😀 Quote

A real Mad Max car chase. 😀 you missed EJ Manual, the only first round QB in that Geno SMith draft, Geno drafted in the second round, i thought maybe no QB went in the first, casue i was there and Geno came out the second day, was a big deal if he would stay or not.. seems like a good dude. ANYWAY.. hard to say, what veteran backup level guy was on the market those years? cheaper option with a trillion weapons, kinda like Browning did last year with these weapons, because lets be honest, AD is a backup level player who had a good line, a good defense, and weapons coming out of his ass. so id ahve preferred the money spent more on defense to get them top 5 maybe and grab a Veteran. Alex smith his free agency in 2012 i think, then again a year or so later. but his leg rotten off, so you know.. but some guy along those lines would have been andy or better.. andy had no distinguishable skill. he panicked in the pocket, had a weak arm, and couldnt handle big game pressure. those might be the top 3 things you want a qb to have. 1 1 Quote
