  1. Not a fan of this. Trading him at the deadline means after the draft, which means we won't have a replacement. Being petty doesn't win us football games.

  2. Frank Gore was 33 when he hit 1025 yards in 2016, the final few years of his career he was more of a share time guy but it can be done, it's rare, but it's possible. Those rooting against Mixon to not get 1000 yards are kind of sad. He isn't going to be playing against us next year unless it's in the playoffs. It seems kind of personal for some of you.

  3. As far as lineman go, they don’t really get a running start and they are typically matched up with someone their own size or smaller. They don’t get tackled to the ground much either. Linebacker is a whole different animal. A lot of big collisions, contact on every play, getting run blocked by guys sometimes 60 to 100 lbs heavier. Having to tackle running backs at speed. Yeah, that would be a good project as well.

  4. I think I would need to factor in carries/ touches per season on an annual basis. Use some fancy exponential shit once you go above 250 or so. Consecutive seasons over 250 would add an additional wear factor. Earl Campbell rushed over 300 times a season his first 4 years. He was never the same after it. I agree, egregious use in college needs to be factored in. Let me work on it.

  5. 5th round in 2025. Could go to 4th with extended playing time. So the Stealers have about 4.5 mil in their QBs this season.

  6. He's just a fatter Jonah. A backup that thinks he should start. Oddly, the Bengals seem to love losing seasons to these types on the OL.

  7. I didn't say it was - just saying they prepare for tag departures... at least they have lately.

  8. Now we have Moss to kick. Fickle fans no?

  9. I'm tending to lean toward Patter's thinking that Becton is kind of a risk. I am tired of the Bengals taking underachievers with potential and ending up with an under achiever. Somewhere is the number of penalties and sacks he gave up... No thanks. He reminds me of a higher profile Jackson Carman. Should be somewhere there in the draft. Fart.. would like to have him here but if he is a player and trying to jack up his price here or elsewhere... yeah, I'd still take him and you can't blame him but...

  10. Nixon was pretty good until Watergate

  11. Unless we trade him for a 1st I hope not. Not because I don't want us planning, but because even if we sign Becton and Tart, I still want using drafting a RT and DT very early. In fact I wont be entirely surprised if we double tag Tee and draft his replacement next offseason.

  13. With Mixon you also have to factor in all the wear and tear or running into a lineman and falling on his ass two lines short of the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 2.

  14. Allen never rushed for more than 223 times his last 12 seasons. Averaged about 175 attempts those last 12 years. Caught a lot of passes for that era. Waters was done by age 30/31 from overuse.

  16. I think PM is trolling us with the Dillard love. If Jeff Stoutland couldn't make anything of him, why would we think Frank Pollack could? Dillard was terrible last year and Titans are doing the right thing by cutting their losses. I was a bit annoyed when they signed him so quick last year instead of us being able to trade Jonah to them for a 3rd or Derrick Henry (who they reportedly were asking a 3rd for). I'd guess we aren't offering Tart or Becton as much as they hoped to get so they are waiting for a better offer to arrive from some other team. If that doesn't happen, they become Bengals. Sort of like the Warren Sapp visit but Tart and Becton are willing to sign the deal if it's the best they can get.

  17. Let's see if Hill remains at safety. They typically carry 4 safeties and 6 CBs. At the moment it looks like the depth chart is FS1 Geno Stone FS2 Dax Hill SS1 Vonn Bell SS2 Jordan Battle SS3 Tycen Anderson Maybe Battle gets more starts and snaps than Bell. That would be ok. If Anderson can't stay healthy, he would be out. But he has good wheels and could back up at free safety if Hill moves to CB.

  19. How did you get a video of my Bengals draft party? Hell yeah we celebrated when Pittspuke chose Pickett. It’s hard to tell but I am wearing the Rapistburger jersey.

  20. All things considered, the Bengals safety room is open and ready for business. Pretty well stocked now with Stones, Vonn, Battle, Dax. Lots of versatility in where Lou puts them. Strength up the middle looks OK.

  21. Curtis Martin and Bettis are two more that broke the mold. The injury factor is a big one for longevity. I also agree about college numbers. Bottom line, there’s a reason teams have changed their approach to the RB position. Analytics can be a helpful tool but there are exceptions.

  22. At least we can look forward to Russ slowly poisoning Tomlin in a case of Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.

  23. LOL, it was a quick stab at it. I guarantee some of these analytics guys have something similar and better. I can only think of a few guys who ever broke the mold. Adrian Peterson the most prolific in my opinion. I know guys like Emmitt Smith had more yards but Peterson was literally still great in his 30s.

  24. If you do decided to jump into this I would suggest including college carries and injuries as well as catches and kick and punt returns. Think out loud in here I think we'd be happy to help.

  26. They are not cash poor. The league allows each team to have a line of credit up to 50% of the franchise value; now some owners may be over leveraged in other ways and can't access this but the Brown family would have little to no debt. Having said that - the USE of a line of credit today, to be repaid in the future has not really been part of thier make-up. But we have now given several contracts though with large guarantees (and I believe these amounts have to be put in escrow) which no doubt has moved us into the line of credit mode. Up front money and guarantees are now 'normal' practice for contracts so we have no choice but to adjust. For Tee, he may want say $50M up front/guaranteed which means $50M out the door today compared to say $45M - $50M spread out over the next two years if they double tag him. It is a big difference.
