  1. BJ Player Crush Alert!!! This is not a drill!!

  2. Sweat seems to have other issues too. A lot of teams wonder how dedicated Sweat might be to reach his full potential in terms of conditioning and effort. What makes this arrest even more stupid is that every draft prospect should know to be extremely careful this close to the draft where their future gets determined. The fact that Sweat was this careless at this time calls into question his decision-making in general. It's about more than just one DUI.

  3. He’ll end up in RatLand and be all-pro.

  4. Could be . Hope the Bengals get him now. Double team gap plugger to let Rankens and Hill tee off at 3T. Isn't that the plan.?

  5. 6 linemen you choose I'm all n on that but are they worthy in those draft spots? I think it would be a mistake to pass on Sweat in Rd2 even if McConkey is there. Draft is saturated with wide outs. Very few NTs..

  6. I mean he was behind Chase, Higgins, and Boyd. I'm fine with letting Yoshi, Jones, and Irwin battle it out for the 3 spot, if none or them produce then we know we need more than one WR early next draft, this one feels like there are bigger needs than who WR3 will be.

  7. What a choice between Alt, Harrison Jr, Bowers and Nabors! A much as Hairball likes linemen I think he gets an outstanding target for Herbert here. * consensus is MHJ.. I go Nabors..like you... A Chase clone .. .

  8. I keep telling myself to stay away from the draft speculation stuff. NOT a dis toward anyone. Just confuses me more. As far as the draft personally... 1. I ordered draft tee shirts for my son and me simply because they are cool and won't be around long. 2. Starts too late, work too early. I'll catch up on ESPN's tracker or here the next day. 3. What if Mims is gone? Along with Bower and Murphy. I think other teams are liking him, too. 4. As far as inexperience... I remember when the Bengals drafted an OT who had missed his entire senior season except for a bowl game. I think Anthony Munoz turned out OK.

  9. So we need a “Crush-o-Meter”? 😀

  10. I would swap Wiggins for Cooper DeJean. The only CB worth pick 18 in my view.

  14. That's a huge man . We need him here.

  15. It will hard for teams to imagine this is behind him when he is making millions per year. I am willing to bet he is now OFF many teams boards.

  16. "Off the field, team sources say Sweat is a good kid overall, but has some issues with a poor work ethic and likes to party. Sweat is going to have to work much harder in the NFL and definitely will have to keep his weight in check."

  17. Just the way the value at that round went. Everything else when I got to that pick was largely WR, LB, or S. Didn't think I needed those.

  18. If he's there in the 2nd (Probably) the team should draft him. How many good NTs are in the draft? He's the best of them. Pull the trigger on the big guy.

  19. 2am maybe? Whatever, not important. Again, maybe the guy is going to be shit anyway, maybe not. If not…and gets passed over by the Bengals soley due to this incident…watch him get swiped up by the Stealers or the Rats. Then everyone can complain as to why the Bengal offensive line can’t move him out of the way and run the football.

  20. To be honest, each and every draftee—those exposed to the big man on campus limelight’s anyway—have “character concerns”. Being a dumbass getting caught while driving is really just being a dumbass getting caught. All these dudes party—and in a town like Austin with its many watering holes—I’m surprised more dumbasses don’t get caught.

  21. Many sights have noted he had some questions about his dedication. The DUI situation is even worse given it happened at 2 in the afternoon. His character flags are well known in the draft pages, whether they are all true or not.

  22. Mock Draft Monday...... Sweat was there but McConkey is too good to pass up

  23. Laramy Tunsil dropped from what was likely the number one overall pick to pick 13 when minutes before the draft video surfaced of him smoking bong. I view weed as NBD, but obviously the league has issues with it, (at least on paper). What he did would be considered worse, and it clearly affected his draft status, but not to the point that he dropped significantly, so who knows. I imagine this will at least be a red flag for some teams and may take him off the board for some, or at least make them reconsider where they take him.

  24. Lol@ “baggage”. A dumb college kid screw-up. If he beat up girlfriends…waved firearms around…dealt narcotics—there is “baggage”

  25. Bo Callahan had character concerns. These days, teams have to be very careful with prospects who have shown immaturity (for the record, at that age I was VERY immature, thankfully there were no cell phones in the day). Given the money awarded players they need to be fully committed to football and to the craft of thier position. Maybe Sweat is, maybe he is not. But even earlier in the year there were flags raised about his weight and 'party' habits. Problem is, he can come out and say he made a mistake and learned his lesson, blah, blah, blah. But he has no chance to provie it before the draft. It is literally an idiot move he made. As in dumbass. I say he will fall to at least round 3 and perhaps further. Could be wrong, one team could take an earlier gamble.

  26. Paul Brown? Goin back aways . They still may take him but with the way this org, under Katy, rates character, it's a red flag. Like LeTigre said. A mistake by a young man. Maybe give him a break on this. The Need Is Still There and he's a doubled teamed gap stopper.
    1 point
  27. I doubt this drops Sweat very much. He's more likely to still be on the board at 49 but I'd be surprised if he lasts until pick 80. Remember that Paul Brown once drafted a guy who was in prison because he had a parole date before camp opened.

  31. KC won the SB and their WR are almost killing people while high in Texas car races, so playing with only upstanding citizens at this point is operating with 1 hand tied behind your back. Give me Sweat regardless. 😎 🍺

  33. I would not even make the trade, unless JJ,agrees to a contract, with the Bengals before they make the deal.

  34. I would be fine with Fuaga,Murphy or Newton,at 18.

  35. Jefferson will certainly get more than Hill is making. Chase probably will too. Financially it would make sense to trade Tee for fair value, give Uno his 32 mil per year deal, and use an early pick at WR. But that means another need is unaddressed and we're breaking in a rookie WR2.

  36. 2 and a half weeks until the draft where he could make life-changing money, and Sweat puts himself in a position to be arrested? What a knucklehead...hope it was worth it.
    1 point
  37. Yeah. I still say the only paycut you'll see from these two is a fraction of what the other gets. Tyreek at 30mil? Look for more or the same as Hill..

  38. Fuck George Jefferson. I'd rather have Tee.
    1 point
  39. That may be true but did those players even want to play here? They weren't going to overpay.
    1 point
  40. Jefferson doesn't owe the Bengals anything. He may well be happy to play with his college teammates again and the Bengals have a better chance of post-season play than the Vikings. But that doesn't mean he'll give them a discount. Ja'Marr might take a bit less than Jefferson but also might not want to be WR2.

  41. Best we can hope for is 4 QBs in a row to start the draft (which in think is possible), so that SD is essentially the first pick. I could then see the Chargers taking Nabers over MHJ and shocking most casual fans. If that happens you likely then get a run on WR in the next several picks which would help the Bengals on the OT front. The nightmare scenario is the QB run is immediately followed by a run on OT, with Alt going to SD like you said. Then the stock could be bare by 18.

  42. The only way I don't take a RT is if there is a run and none are available. If that happens I'm taking one of the two DTs Of the RT's I think my preference is Fuga, Fashanu, Mims, Lathem. I don't think Bowers will be there, but if he is I wont hate it, Ill be nervous as hell that we can still get a good RT to protect Joe though. If none of the RTs, DTs, or Bowers are there I think I prefer BPA between CB and WR What I hope is that we arent sitting after the first round wondering how the guy we took makes any sense.

  43. Bengals have needs at 2 positions with good depth in this draft class, WR and OT. Probably could also use a C and this is a good year for them. We also need a NT, TE, and CB early but this isn't a good year for those positions. It partly depends on which current vets the team plans to move on from. Karras, Hill, and Hilton are going into their last year contractually. Maybe Boyd's lack of market brings him back on a 1 year deal. Etc. I'll assume they re-sign Scharping, Tupou, Bailey, and Bachie before the draft though they don't influence the early picks. I'm fine with them taking any of several players or positions at 18 as long as they get a high end player who adds a lot of value. Preferably from a position where the talent drops off faster than others. I'm ok with trading Tee if we add a high end player or at least an early 2nd round draft pick. I like the Trent Brown signing but am not confident he'll be healthy all year. I like adding Rankins but neither he nor Hill nor Murphy or Newton are nose tackles. Turner was ok as a rookie but I'm not comfortable handing him a starting job at CB. Our run defense was poor last year, even with Reader. Adding Bell and Stone should get everyone lined up properly and Bell is a much better tackler than Nick Scott. On the O-line we don't have any depth. The 5 starters look decent but we had very good health on the line last year but can't expect that to continue again. Trent Brown isn't very likely to play every game. Ford is a barely adequate guard/tackle backup. Scharping is ok at C/G, but not under contract currently. Carman, Smith, and Hill are going into the final year of their rookie deals with not much shown for 3 years of development. Some of them shouldn't even make the roster this year. I'll post later what my big board would be at 18.

  44. Reader also said the Lions gave him a 1 way ticket for his trip to Detroit. They weren't letting him leave without a deal. Dehner's mailbag has this question and answer from him. In your opinion, what’s been the Bengals’ most questionable or dumbest move so far this offseason? Or maybe it was a move they should have made? — Ed H. I wrote this before, so I won’t go too long here. They should have paid for one of the run-stopping defensive tackles available in the early portion of free agency. A number of the best run stoppers were available for much less than $8 million AAV, and they could have stretched for it. If the plan was to let DJ Reader walk, which I didn’t necessarily have a problem with, then signing a player like Malcolm Roach, Grover Stewart or DaQuan Jones would have made sense in the big picture. They didn’t do that. Now they are forced to rely on a weak draft class. I viewed it as risky business that could have been avoided.

  45. Most media mocks have the first OT Joe Alt going off the board for the Titans at pick 7, but I'm watching the Chargers at pick 5. Could turn out to be misdirection, but it sounds to me like Harbaugh with the Chargers wants an OT at pick 5. Most mocks have the Chargers taking a WR, but if they take Alt it could start OL going off quickly on the board before the Bengals at 18. A team like Tennessee with huge OL needs likely takes the second best OT off of their the board. We all know how position runs can get started earlier than expected once the first guy goes off the board. Could easily be 5 or so OL off the board by pick 18. Along with 4 or 5 QBs, 3 or 4 WRs, 3 or so defensive players (EDGE/CB) plus maybe Bowers. There won't be any RBs/LBs/safeties taken in the first 17 picks. I also think no DTs will be taken before the Bengals select at pick 18.. So Murphy and Newton would likely be there if they wanted to go in that direction.

  46. As far as Inbreds drafting Mims I don't think they'll have move up for any particular olineman unless Alt and that won't happen. They may go with JPJ and be good with it. He may be the next Creed Humphries and they like to have a dominant C in place.. I too want Mims above any player . Will he be there? Dunno
