Marvin Must Stay

I'm not sure Marvin is pushing for a new GM. We might be the only ones with that dream. He does say he wants new facilities and a new personnel department.

I have been on the bandwagon that we need a new coach. The more I think about it, the more I don't think the coach matters tremendously. It would be a new voice and maybe some different inspiration for a couple seasons, but the Bengals still have 2nd class ownership. If Marvin leaves because Mike refuses to get an indoor facility and more scouts it says a lot more about Mike than Marvin. Think of it, a coach is giving up his job because he is not convinced he has the tools to succeed.

Regarding the fans, a new coach is a marketing tool to sell a few more seats to people that still believe Mike Brown is making changes to win. Once they see past the new polish on the turd, Zimmer or whoever will be fired and the cycle will repeat.

Hopefully Katie Blackburn changes the management style someday....

Yawn. New coach, current o or d coordinator. First time head coach, no power to do much. Lather, Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

Marvin will get nothing. If he had been 10-6 this year than maybe he gets some concessions but he laid an egg.

I don't know. If they had won then MB could have said that they won
2 years in a row doing it his way.

I heard that rumor awhile ago. But then they hired the woman beater
that they just fired.

If nothing else it gives Marvin some leverage.

As far as the practice bubble goes, we went to two Super Bowls without one. Hard to convince me of how critical the bubble is. We used to have tough guys with character wearing the Bengals uniform and those kind of guys don't need a bubble to play football.

That was a different era.

Tell it to the Stealers and Ravens. They both have practice bubbles.

It not only helps the players actually practice.
But it helps attract and retain FAs.

x2. Players aren't flocking to Cincinnati for the city. Bengals have to have other incentives.

Green Bay is said to treat players great. Why? Because they're asking them to live in fucking wisconsin.

I would like to be in the room for the meeting.....

Well Mike, I have coached your team for 8 years and my record is below .500 and I have had 2 winning seasons during this time.

And I did take the team that won the division last year and improved to 4W-12L

And while difficult I did find a way for the team to implode and lose 10 games in a row tying the team record held
by coaching legend Dave Shula.

But because I am a nice guy and the guys in the locker room like and respect me I will return as your Head Coach if you meet my list of demands.

ROTFLMAO

Notes: Lewis wants to come back, but ...
By GEOFF HOBSON

Posted 11 minutes ago

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said after Sunday's 13-7 loss in the regular season finale that he doesn't know anything about his future.

"All I know is that after today I'm officially unemployed," he said. "I don't know what's ahead for me. What I do know is that we've got guys that fought their tails off. That's a group in that locker room that hasn't figured out (how to win). They've got the pathway. They know what it takes."

Lewis is set to meet with Bengals president Mike Brown on Monday. It is believed that Brown is thinking of asking Lewis back, but it's also believed that Lewis would like some changes. He wouldn't be specific, but he said an indoor facility is not an obstacle. He said that Brown realizes with the advent of an 18-game schedule there will have to be a new facility.

But that is as specific as Lewis got in his postgame press conference. On Friday, Lewis said he was at a "starting over point." He reiterated that on Sunday.

"In my coaching career, I'm at a different point than I was eight years ago," Lewis said. "This team is in a good place, and that's a good thing."

Hey Mike,

I know I completely fucked you this year. I know I threw you under the bus in July and then went on to underachieve with the players I had no problem with the year before and as a result you and your family got beat up in the media again.

That said. I would like a raise. I would like you to spend 15 million on a indoor facility and also add to your operating expenses by adding scouts to find players that I won't be able to control and ultimately blame it on you when I can't.

Thank you,

Marvin Lewis
Indeed. Contract extension for Marv has been talked about at length for some time now. Both sides should know exactly where the other stands. Unstoppable force vs. Immovable object. Take your pick who is who here.

I'm not sure what's stupider in here. 1) the bus comment, or 2) that you think a practice facility will cost $15 million.

Good point. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

The fact that Marvin did not sign the extension makes me think he is done here. I don't think he is going to Pitt (college that is). I seriously think that(Pitt) is a huge step down regardless of what one thinks about college football. I just don't see Marvin as the balls to the wall recruiting type but thats just a guess nothing more. IF you think we have less leverage with FAs here.... just think what recruiting for Pitt would be like.
