Is the Statute of Limitations outdated?

Absolutely not. Even if the all the necessary sciences involved with solving a crime are infallible, there is always a human element involved and that element will always have a chance of error, a possible bias of agendas, and the ability to improve upon the technologies we have devised.

But... if they put out an arrest warrant for the unknown person (John Doe or Jamie B ) based on his DNA, the charge remains alive, no Statute of Limitations would be necessary. I see that the Statute of Limitations DNA testing could be abused but could also be used to free wrongly convicted people and in the same stroke put someone that is innocent behind bars.

Too many problems.
