Arkansas Bengal
With Tyler Eifert likely out, who takes his place for Bengals? Coley Harvey, ESPN Staff Writer CINCINNATI -- After beginning the week full of optimism that he might be able to bounce back from a stinger he received last week, Tyler Eifert now appears to be a no-go for the Cincinnati Bengals entering Sunday's game at Cleveland. The Bengals listed Eifert as doubtful on the injury report they produced Friday. He's joined in that designation by cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris, who suffered a rib injury during last week's game against the St. Louis Rams. With Eifert, the NFL's touchdown receptions leader (12), potentially shelved for this week, the Bengals will be forced to turn to his backups at the tight end position. Rookie Tyler Kroft and H-back Ryan Hewitt should expect to see a few more targets in the passing game, and a couple more snaps overall. Asked Friday about Kroft, the third-round pick from Rutgers, head coach Marvin Lewis was full of confidence in the young playmaker. "He's come in and done what we expected him to do," Lewis said. "He was the prospect that we felt very highly of among the tight ends, and he's not disappointed us. His toughness, his ability to block and catch and run and do all those things. We feel really good about it, and it's been great. He's played a lot of football for a young player. That speaks to his ability and also his versatility." Used mostly as a blocker this season, Kroft has drawn only two targets on 114 snaps, according to ESPN Stats & Information. One of those targets resulted in his first career catch last week, a 4-yard reception that could have gone for more had he not slipped and fallen as soon as he caught it. Kroft also received a career-high 24 snaps in the 31-7 win. As for Hewitt, the versatile player has lined up nearly everywhere in the Bengals' offense this season. He's been operating out of the backfield as a blocking fullback. He's had time flanked just off the line of scrimmage as an H-back or tight end. He also has lined up in the slot and out wide. The second-year, former undrafted signee can give the Bengals' offense a few different extra dimensions when he is on the field. This year, Hewitt has five receptions for 73 yards, including a 21-yard reception against the Rams. He also had a 22-yard catch in the Week 8 win at Pittsburgh. A change-of-pace option, Hewitt has been used sparingly by offensive coordinator Hue Jackson. Hewitt hinted earlier this week that some of his deep, open-field success has come from studying Eifert. "I've definitely learned a lot of things from Tyler; especially open-space savviness," Hewitt said. "That's one of the things Tyler excels at. He's an extraordinary athlete in space. People don't really give him enough credit. You're starting to see it now with his production this year, but I've seen that since I got here. So I try to emulate -- not the way he moves, because you are who you are -- but a lot of the moves he has and a lot of the subtle things that he does I try to put into my arsenal." http://espn.go.com/blog/cincinnati-bengals/post/_/id/20376/bengals-tyler-eifert-kroft-ryan-hewitt-who-takes-place-injury-report
CincIndy
I would rather have Eifert rest against Cleveland than play and then get reinjured playing Pitt next week. I don't see this as anything bad

StripesEarned
That sucks. They were saying last week he could of went back in but wasn't necessary I thought. I also thought after the game he said he was gonna get tests Monday morning but he will be good to go Sunday. I would rather be safe then sorry with him but hope they're not overlooking this game. We can't afford to drop this one. I have a feeling New England may be in for a let down against Philly with injuries catching up and Denver with Osweiler you never know how that's gonna go. He surely didn't look to good last week til the last couple drives. Just don't want to see us blow a 1st round bye because of overlooking the stains. StripesEarned
I vote for Sean I vote see what Marco Battaglia or Matt Schobel have been up to the last decade. May be long in the tooth but lungs are more than likely in better game shape than Brewers are these days.? |High School Harry|
He's still in the league?   Sort of ... >>> (PFT) Jimmy Graham is done for the season after tearing the patellar tendon in his knee, leaving the Seahawks in need of some more depth at tight end for the final five weeks of the regular season and what they hope will be more football in the postseason. They acquired that depth on Tuesday by signing Chase Coffman as a free agent. Coffman entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Bengals in 2009 and has also spent time with the Buccaneers, Falcons and Titans over the course of his career. He had four catches for 42 yards in one appearance for the Titans this season, but has been out of the league since being released at the end of October. Luke Willson tops the depth chart at tight end with Graham out of the lineup and the Seahawks also have Cooper Helfet on the roster. To make room for Coffman, the Seahawks released center Drew Nowak. Nowak opened the season as the team’s starter at center and made seven starts up front before giving way to Patrick Lewis. Nowak’s standing dropped to the point that he was inactive the last three weeks and the Seahawks will continue to use Lemuel Jeanpierre as Lewis’s backup.<<<

Arkansas Bengal
Maybe we'll get to see C.J. Uzomah for the first time this year. In case you forgot about him, here is his bio: Fifth-round draft choice was not a featured receiver in Auburn’s spread offense and will need time to adjust to the pros, but Bengals coaches prize him for his potential ... Has fine speed and athleticism for his size, creating potential mismatches in coverage, and has long arms to aid blocking efforts ... Seven of 29 career catches were for TDs, including big plays in 2013 as Auburn went 12-2, missing national title with three-point loss to Florida State in BCS Championship game. StripesEarned
That's who I would like to see some of. He looks the part of a good recieving tight end. I would also love to see some more of PJ Dawson before playoff time. I feel he could be a good asset instead of having to put Hawk or Rey in there especially on passing downs. Speaking of Hawk I think he has done ok in run game so far this season. Haven't had to say wtf is he doing too much so means he's stayed away from making to many horrible plays but did anyone see Carson Palmer on inside the NFL speaking to one of his recievers knock Hawk by saying come on #50 couldn't even cover me? StripesEarned
Wishful thinking. I'm pretty sure the Madeira Mustangs could put up 28 on the Eagles D. Yea i know it's a longshot just one of those feelings I have though. A few times this year the Eagles actually came from nowhere and played well. If not Philly then someone else. Possibly their division games coming up. Sooner or later all the injuries have to catch up. Even if they don't still don't want to miss out on a 1st round bye due to overlooking the Browns with Stoolers and Denver coming up.
