Linebacker Logan Wilson is the only Bengals player who has played in all 517 defensive snaps this season. Dax Hill is next at 514 snaps. Hubbard leads all Bengals d-linemen at 406 snaps.

Bengals Wire

Jets just gave Bengals a very interesting waiver wire target

Chris Roling

The Cincinnati Bengals could use some help at running back and the New York Jets might’ve just provided it.

Tuesday, the Jets released Michael Carter, a 2021 fourth-round pick who had been functioning as the pass-catching and third-down back before falling out of favor.

According to Pro Football Network’s Jay Morrison, the Bengals really liked Carter during his draft — and they got an up-close-and-peronal look at him his rookie year when he put up 172 total yards and a touchdown on the Cincinnati defense.

The Bengals would have to put in a waiver claim to get Carter and would inherit his cheap remaining rookie contract if they get him. But with Joe Mixon dominating the snap counts and nobody else stepping up as an explosive option, it would make some sense for the staff to go get a guy they liked and hope for a spark.

If the Bengals gave more than 1 or 2 touches to Williams they wouldn't have to look for a spark.

He would provide it.

59 is so bad ass he doesn't even wear a helmet.

I want a Socko Weithe retro throwback jersey.

You got me Harry...I just spent the last 20 minutes googling John "Socko" Weithe...

What an amazing story about an amazing local Cincinnati guy.  Born/raised in Cincy, Roger Bacon HS, Xavier University, played professional football, baseball, and basketball including the NFL with the Detroit Lions, coached HS and college football and basketball including taking the UC Bearcats to the NIT championship...then was the Chairman of the Hamilton County Democratic Party later in life.  Sad that I never heard of this guy previously.

How about one of these in a number 33?

Found several pics of players without helmets.

Were they optional back then?

Apparently Tippy Dye was a coach/player.

Halfback, I believe.

So few photos of those really early Bengals. Even less of where they played.

In 1937 they played at Crosley Field (yes, that Crosley Field). Here is the only one I could find of the stadium itself (and basically just a wider view of the one I posted above):

From 1938 until their exit, they played at Corcoran Stadium. Could not find any photos of the Bengals playing, only of Xavier. Did find a ticket though.
