BengalsJim has been posting some awesome stuff lately, love old pictures of Riverfront

360 people had tickets to that first Bengals game at Riverfront but did not have a seat. There was a dispute between the carpenters union and the ironworkers union as to who would be responsible for changing the seats from baseball to football configuration. Some of the temporary seats that only got used for football weren't prepared in time for the game. Once baseball season was over, the number of temporary end zone seats exceeded 6,000.

You likely remember that baseball/football set up. I recall being impressed by the way they could just slide those infield seats in different directions and make things fit.

Easily impressed with 1970’s technologies I reckon.

Yep, Cam Miller's video has some video of it being done, along with everything else that had to be done to convert it. It starts at the 12:15 mark. He made another "Riverfront Remembered" video for the Reds, as well. Good stuff.

I built this last year for the hell of it. I ended up selling it to a big Reds fan from Dayton.

My goodness, the craftsmanship. Beautiful work man, whoever you sold that to is a lucky person

Wait...THAT Abercrombie & Fitch? Sheesh, they've come a long way since college humor tees. Might have to start looking into their Bengals stuff

They have a SWEET Freezer Bowl sweatshirt too.  Not sure if it's still listed for sale but I've gifted it to two people who were in attendance for the game.

That would be really awesome ...... if they didn't use the wrong Bengals helmet. How do you make such an obvious mistake?

Not the same, but loosely related: The Bengals helmet on the shirt above has been used as the official "throwback" helmet by various apparel manufacturers for the past twenty years or so, and it has driven me crazy since the first time I saw it. It depicts a black stripe down what would be the middle of the helmet, which the Bengals have never had. Who signed off on this and how has it persisted for two decades without being corrected? I won't buy any stuff with it on it due to the glaring inaccuracy.

I didn't even notice the stripe. That makes it even worse.

We've played a couple of epic games vs San Diego. Both were in our striped helmets. If they're going to use our "BENGALS" helmets, why not also use the John Hadl-era white Chargers helmets while they're at it? Crack research team they've got there at A&F.

Good luck finding "correct" freezer bowl vintage gear on ebay.
