I asked John Thornton a question on Twitter about Odell.

His response. (He said yes).

Odell had 6.5 tackles and a sack last night. And I think he is leading his team in tackles.
They are 2-0.


Personally, if Odell has conquered his demons, I would love to have him back.

Let him be someone elses project at this point. I wish the kid all the best but we've moved past that. He hasn't been part of a Mike Zimmer defense which I think is a huge deal. I think our LB corp has been very good this year, and playing with discipline. Pass.

I don't think he is a project. The dude was a viable DROY candidate.

Also, Maualuga wasn't a part of a Zimmer Defense either.


Dhani Jones isn't getting any younger.

I just love a good story with a happy ending.
And I think Odell coming back better than ever, and being
part of a LB corp that consists of him, Maualuga and Rivers
would be great for this team's future.

Of course, that all depends on if Odell has indeed conquered his demons.

As far as I know, he has been clean for over a year.

I think Zimmer and FitzGerald would work wonders for him.

Remember, he had Chuck Bresnahan and Hunley when he played for the Bengals.


Chuck Bresnahan is actually Odell's LB coach in the UFL right now.

That was 2005. A lot has transpired in Odell's life between then and now. He was so much fun to watch and had quite a bit of promise to be sure. I just think there are way more cons than pros in bringing him back.

He is still under a lifetime ban from Goodell.. Which means he needs direct consent from the commissioner to join an NFL team.

I would be all for it though if it came about. If he has straightened his life up he is one hell of a talent.

he palyed great in the game i watched.. looks in great shape.. his suspension status is a question mark however.. anyone know his status with godell?

id take him.

and to the tweeter who said "our lb corps is fine!!!" you dont know what your talking about. dhani jones is a stop gap veteran, he brings nothing to the pass rush and is average in coverage..

If this defense continues to play the way they have for the rest of the season, I'd love to have Dhani in the middle of it again for another year or two. Gelling with the guys beside you and earning their trust that you will do your job so they can worry about theirs sometimes means more than having an athletic freak out there on defense in the middle. Look at Ahmad Brooks. All the "talent" in the world and isn't even in the NFL anymore to my knowledge.

I never really was a Dhani supporter... but from the looks of things, our defense isn't broken right now - and we all know the saying about that.

For purely selfish reasons, I would want him back and redeemed simply to feel like I wasn't an ass for rooting for him as long as I did... And yes, teaming him with Rey and Keith would be cool.

I wonder though, who would you want at MLB? Rey seems to have a good mix of brains and crazy. Would you see if Odell had learned the brains part, or would you put him at strong and let him go nuts?

I am a huge Dhani fan. He is the Bengal I would most want to hang out with. He rules... He's also the guy I saw trailing big plays (Ray Rice TD, Stokely miracle). I think he's totally got it upstairs to be a great MLB (he was in the right place on those plays to stop TDs). However, he doesn't have the elite physical gifts to make the stop that someone like Odell can.
