Ben Affleck Is Batman

the writing/directing/producing was the problem in Batman and Robin, not the actors.  Clooney was actually well suited for that role, but the entire movie around him was such a mess.  Clooney as a billionaire with an alter-ego is plenty believable, and obviously he had the acting chops.  IMO it was a great casting choice, but horrible execution of the movie overall.

There's a great documentary on youtube somewhere about how the only thing that mattered to the studio with that film was selling toys, and Joel Shumacher regretting that he went along with it.

I think this is it:

and actually, Clooney proves my point.  Great actor, has done great work since Batman and Robin.  Just like Affleck is a much better actor now than when he made DareDevil (regardless of what you think of the movie).

We'll see how it goes.

I'm not buying it. Ben is best as a blue collar, Everyman. Billionaire, playboy, superhero doesn't fly....

I agree he's best as an everyman.  I think he can pull off Billionaire fine, what I'm curious to see is if he can pull off what seemed to be the route they were going with the character:  rough around the edges, older retired batman coming out of retirement to take down a Superman he thinks is being a puppet for a corrupt government.

Someone who can deliver this monologue:

if they go a different route with the character though, I think it'll be fine.

I'd go with Frank Miller's Batman/Superman storyline, and go with an older badass like Stephen Lang. If I'm committed to someone younger, I'd go with more of a Gerard Butler or Sam Worthington. They at least have the imposing presence, grizzled look, and powerful voice.

Ben doesn't do 'badass,' which is hugely important when pitting a mortal against a God... And Daredevil was awful. I certainly have favorite movies that suck (Rutger Hauer's Split Second), but I understand they suck. :)

yea that seemed to be the route they were going, which is why I thought someone like Josh Brolin I think would have worked.  Curious to see if they still go that route.

Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” said director Zack Snyder, in a statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Gadot, 28, competed in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant as Miss Israel before becoming a professional model/actress. What better qualifies her to play a superhero, though, might be the two years she spent in the Israeli army.
