Both Gruden and Zimmer being interviewed for HC jobs (Multiple Merged Threads)

Recommended Posts

I read on the NFL subreddit that a lot of the coaches the Skins have retained/not fired yet have ties to Jay Gruden, making him a likely favorite. I will try to find that reference.

still don't think Gruden would be a good fit there.  They are built to be a power running team.

They are a zone running team IIRC, I think Jay uses both styles in his offense. But they really want someone who can develop RG3, and those who support him for the Washington job are looking at the job he did developing Dalton.

But, DALTON SUCKS!!!  Haven't the "Go-Bengals Realists" Team gotten that thru to you yet?

He's not that good, and the NFL saw how Gruden polished that turd to a semi gloss....thus the NFL interest in Gruden.    Though I'm sure your internet opinion is more valid than NFL heads.   What do they know right?

 Man I like Kenny. Dude loves the Bengals and I know he gets frustrated like all of us just doesn't like to show it I guess and be a negative person about it.

....and beyond.    Although I did see this tweet, leading me to believe he actually does know more than NFL people:

Go-Bengals poster kennethmw is expected to interview this week with the Titans and Vikings, per source.

I didn't think about this shit. If Zimmer or Gruden leaves, one of them would probably try to take Hue with them, wouldn't they?

Maybe, but Hue has a great relationship with Marvin and Mike Brown.  He would be the OC IMO if Gruden left so the only issue is if Zimmer leaves and tries to get Hue as his OC.

Khat, if I get either job, I promise that you will be hired as my clipboard holder!  I think you might be qualified for that!

Possibly good news on the Zimmer front in Det. if they are looking for a former coach...

Lions focused on former head coaches? in.gif

January, 7, 2014
By Tom Carpenter | ESPN.com

The Detroit Lions have been taking their time interviewing candidates to replace deposed head coach Jim Schwartz, though candidates are starting to pile up. They have spoken with Jim Caldwell, Ken Whisehunt remains the front-runner, and they hope to interview Jay Gruden. Per ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder, former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak is slated to meet with the Lions on Friday. More candidates likely will be added to the list in the coming days.

"One other name to watch with the Lions opening: Gary Kubiak," tweeted Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press Tuesday afternoon.

Note that Birkett didn't say that Kubiak has an interview lined up, but the beat writer isn't just pulling his name out of a hat, either.

Kubiak would fit the mold of all of the aforementioned candidates, because they all have HC experience. The Lions have a roster built to win in the near future, so it appears they intend to secure a coach who has the requisite experience to lead them to deep into the playoffs immediately:

Michael Rothstein Munchak interest shows experience matters
"Now, the levels of success as head coaches are a bit different -- Caldwell and Whisenhunt went to Super Bowls, Gruden won Arena titles and Munchak never made the playoffs in Tennessee -- but they have success leading a franchise. They also all have some sort of offensive pedigree. Caldwell, Whisenhunt and Gruden are all considered coaches who can develop or refine quarterbacks. Munchak does not have that background. He is an offensive line specialist ... as Werder reports, he'll bring his offensive coordinator in Tennessee, Dowell Loggains, with him to the meeting with the Lions. Loggains was a quarterback at Arkansas and has spent his entire coaching career with the Titans, first as a quality control coach, then the quarterbacks coach from 2010 to 2012 before being promoted to offensive coordinator with five games left in the 2012 season. ... What is telling is who Detroit hasn’t reportedly asked to speak with as of now: Cincinnati defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and San Francisco offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Neither one has head-coaching experience despite being considered top-end coordinators."

NFL should consult Go-Bengals.com posters instead of determining for themselves who they like.  Obviously Jay Gruden sucks, that must be why he's being interviewed for HC positions and even offered one after his 2nd year as OC.

He'd be an awesome fit with RGIII.  Hell, if he made Dalton look decent, imagine what he could do with someone that's even marginally talented.

so a bad performance creates the vacuum that makes you think it's a wise idea to slip back into your "idiot" mode?  and just when so many were starting to gain a measure of respect for you, you resort to shit like this?

learn something from the disappointment you're feeling. you'll be tested by real life situations much more severe than this one as you reach maturity.

what i'm trying to say is this khat...i still have hope for you. step up and prove my instincts are good ones. you're not winning any popularity contests with that bullshit. in times like these, that's the easy road to take.
