membengal
That was every bit as bad as I feared. My only Burrow worry is that the calf is really still an issue and he does not have the abilty to move around in the pocket like he usually does or take off and run. If he can't do those things, he's a shell of what he usually is.

stryker57
how about we get out of the shotgun occasionally, (did we run the whole game from the shotgun?) bad weather ? passing just aint getting it ?? we should have lined up under center and ran some from a 1 back set (since we dont have a FB) 2 te play maybe , 6th OL? want to slow down a pass rusher? run at him with power. let garret line up where he wants and go at him. why continue to hand your rb the ball at a stand still, when you can give him some momentum?
IKOTA
Despite Zac Taylor’s overall success, he is still underwhelming with the weapons in place. Imagine what a real OC could do with this bunch. Great HC, leader but mediocre at best play designer and caller. This offense should be scoring every series with these weapons. All the pieces in place to offset defensive schemes and even dominant defensive players like Garrett. The first play of the game should have been handed to Mixon. Burrow screwed that one up, chose the wrong read. Instead of a 10+ yard gain, it’s an incomplete pass with Smith hitting Burrow. Set the tone for the game, whereas the Mixon run could have set the tone for the Bengals. Little things like this play a huge role in how a game develops. 1

Mixon would have run into the back of an offensive lineman for a two yard gain and jumped up pounding his chest.

That’s every other play, but the first play in Cleveland he had open field in front of him. At least a 10 yard run, probably a huge gain based on video angle. Burrow kept it…
UncleEarl
The Bengals have been very predictable under Taylor and we talk about it every year. The amazing array of skill players on offense may be covering up for his deficiencies as an offensive mind.

|BlackJesus|
^ I fear the Bengals are going to regret passing on Dawand Jones, hell I already do and did on draft day. How could any scout, but especially one for a team with this OL, look at Dawand Jones (the largest wingspan in the NFL) and think, "nah, doesn't look the part". At some point it is just basic geometry. It takes too long to run around his arms.
sparky151
Yeah, passing on him repeatedly was stupid. As was not trading Jonah. Jones had great tape too. Next year we'll try to find a new RT but the odds of getting someone as good as Jones even in round 1 are low.

stryker57
gotta say alot of collar tugs going on there for Jones. , but you keep your guy away from the qb however you can, so if they aint calling it, he did his job.

Yeah clearly this is going to be a pass-first offense as long as JB is here, but when they're in shitty weather and teams are blitzing every down or dropping 7-8 into coverage they have to be able to take advantage on the ground. Can only hope the OL gets it cleaned up and doesn't have a single injury. Otherwise it's going to be a rough season.

Volson was horrible.. Karras can't cover his ass as much as he has.. It's hurting his own responsibilities .Dante Smith and Cody Ford on deck!.

It's easy to say they'll be on point when it matters but when they're opening the season with two division games there's less breathing room. 0-2 in the AFCN is not an easy hole to dig out of... Also if there is a reason they thought Jonah should play RT other than owing him $12M I'd love to see it this week.
