These guys are mercenaries with a short shelf life and they're trying to get all the money they can while they have the ability to play.  He took a risk, and maybe in the end, it was not a great deal as it turns out, but who's to say it would have worked out had he stayed in Cincinnati? Maybe things would have been different if Aaron Rogers had been healthy.
