This description of Becton during the draft is also noteworthy ...

That was against lesser competition, he will be facing elite athletes, not bums in the ACC...Myles Garrett and Watt are not toys and if anyone will be getting thrown around it's Becton.

The Bengals wouldn't start Becton if he sucks in practice, camp, or pre season. It's not like if they sign him today, he's out there protecting Burrow tomorrow.

But there's huge potential there plus a body and frame that you cannot teach. They could even try him at LG in place of Volson if necessary.

The Bengals definitely would start Becton because they are starting Volson, who is also a diaster, it's what they do...And if you are moving him around to play positions he's never played before, why not move him to RB, TE, or DT...this isn't Madden where you can change someone's position by clicking a few buttons and it works out fine.

You are trying to use random scouting reports from non-NFL scouts based on what could happen vs. the last 4 years of tape on what has occurred to say that the Bengals should sign this guy. Mike Renner is an accounting major that has never played NFL football, worked as scout for any NFL team, but got a job at PFF and his now a draft guru because??? Mike Renner is watching film just like me and you giving us his uneducated opinion, it's worthless and doesn't cover up the last 4 years of bad or non-existent play of Becton.

I would start Becton over Flounder 100% of the time. Becton has elite measurables based on basic geometry and world class power with his hands. It's his feet and angles that are the problem. But that can be learned and fixed theoretically.

Meanwhile, Carman and the other bums (outside of Ford) have no clay to mold and shape. Their ceiling is already reached. And it stinks. So yes, I get Becton and see if he's able to be fixed. He's a rusty Porsche that needs a new engine, while the others are bicycles with flat tires.

What makes you think Carman and Smith have reached their ceiling but Becton has not, because he's bigger than them? There are plenty of big guys who can't play RT in the NFL at a high level, elite measurables don't mean shit if you can't put it all together and play consistently good football.

If it ends up being Becton and Mims I will be nervous as hell for Joe until one of them shows they can do it at this level.

I believe Mims has the talent to

become solid quicker then most think

The one OT that most think will bust is Guyton..

I would give Becton a 3 yr, 18 mill deal (6 per). If he turns it around, it's a massive steal.

The risk with a 1 yr 5 mill deal is he comes in and dominates and then costs you 20+ per year next year, so he leaves. You basically rehabilitate him for someone else.

Yeah me too but he's got the total package you'd look for in a RT..

I'm all in on him..

Unless....JC Lathem is there and doubt he would be.

It's wild the differences in who people think outranks who. Other than Alt, the rest of these guys could go top 15 or mid to late first round. I'm not sure any of the talking heads actually know.

Yep..

Outside of the elite ones it's all a crapshoot..

This feels like we are trying to polish a turd with this guy. Pray we can find a good one in the draft then we won't need someone with a shit injury history to count on starting for more than a little while.

Oline has become an even more premium position due to lack of quality players.

If I'm the GM I'm drafting 2 Olinemen and a NT above anything else.

Every play works or doesn't due to the trench play.

lol...bro..you keep posting random fans opinions as if that is helping make your point...Will Lutz is a marketing guy..https://www.linkedin.com/in/willie-lutz-027026134/

His eyes for oline talent evaluation doesn't mean shit because he's a fan just like you and me...all of these guys you keep posting are just parroting opinions and giving uneducated takes to talk themselves into agreeing with whatever moves the Bengals might make. Willie Lutz's eye's for oline play is worth fuck all...he doesn't anything about Carman's floor and Becton's ceiling, he's just talking out of his ass.

I'm not always posting a viewpoint because it is an authoritative reference, but because I agree with it, or find it interesting / worth considering. Whether the person is a pro scout or a plumber is usually immaterial.
