Will be interesting to see if the starters play in the joint practice or the exhibition game itself. I got the feeling that Burrow hinted that he would be playing in the Thursday night game, if not for very long. Small chance that he and the other starters could play for limited snaps in both the joint practice as well as the game, but that seems doubtful to me.

I see no reason to risk any starters in the last game. They all know how to play football still, and didn't forget over the last 2 weeks. Get everyone healthy for Week 1 when it actually matters

These practices have red flags.

If playing your reserves for PS or backend roster spots is the goal

then do be it but any 1st or 2nd teamers should stay off the field.

For all the teams, the last pre-season game is giving some work to bubble players and seeing who they want for the Practise Roster.

If the starters do play in the game, it certainly won't be long enough to prevent the bubble players from getting enough snaps to show what they can do. Keep in mind that after the final exhibition game on Thursday, it will still be almost 2.5 weeks until the opener against New England.

Question..

Why would a starter risk the chance of injury in this practice ?

Players can get hurt anytime they are on the field. Mahomes took about 27-28 snaps in 3 exhibition games last season. Played almost the entire first half yesterday. A lot of the better teams in the league play their starters in these games. Some play them less than KC, almost none play them as little as the Bengals have the last few years.

Risk and Reward favors the risk heavily..

I'll sit em...

I get it. A lot of teams played starters this week (week 2). I just don't want to see another slow start for this team. I'm gun shy about that
