I was excited to see that the team took Burrow's injury last season as an opportunity to try a different approach - play action, drop back passing - that paid immediate dividends in the run and pass game. Eureka! The hope was that they could learn from that and add it to Burrow's game, and we would grow this year.

If I had to pinpoint the most disappointing thing about this team to me, that has been the case for so long and was simply reinforced today, it's just how little this team actually ever evolves. Everyone and their brother knew what the weaknesses were in the last season, and the team simply didn't do what it had to do, in the draft, with trades/FA, and/or scheme, to improve. How on earth they can sit back and tell themselves that almost is good enough, and then not do anything to get better, is beyond me. It's like they actually think last year we could have been contenders if Burrow had a healthy season. With the 5th worse D in the league and a reprehensible O-Line (run and pass).

How do we not evolve?

Yeah but the Patriots may have the worst skill position players in the NFL.  I give the D credit for doing what they should have but it wasn’t exactly dominating.

Agree but 16 pts given will get a team a long way .

We'll see how they test out next week.

What's his record against Taylor?

You mean what's Reid's record vs. Burrow.  We've won in spite of Taylor.

Zac's win loss record as Bengals coach with Burrow - 27-22-1  (.550)

Zac's win loss record as Bengals coach WITHOUT Burrow - 8-23 (.258)

Without Burrow, Zac isn't shit.

I think they evolved in the draft and FA but the scheme is the same. Bland AF

Day after and man what a buzz kill still ... we waited 9 months to be served up that fucking steaming hot pile of shit. 💩

The entire calculation now changes. This team was supposed to be on a Super Bowl journey. But now you have a loss to a shitty team and QB, KC coming up, no Ja'Marr extension, Tee with a sore hammy, suspect run defense, bad tackling, the potential of going 0-2 to start the year, Burrow rubbing his hand near the end of yesterday's game as I think he tweaked something ...

Sports really can turn on a dime😕

No doubt about that brother!  As it is right now, I'm hoping Joe comes out of the KC game with no injuries more than a win

as that's not likely.  At least with a repeat performance of yesterday!

Say hi to mommy and keep telling yourself how much better you are.

My mom passed years ago so I’ll probably just kiss my wife instead. And I don’t think I’m better, I just don’t get all upset about losing an opener and I find it hilarious when other people do. Half the league is 0-1, it’s not a big deal.

I can't suggest NFL+ enough $15 a month isn't bad. You can watch replays immediately and get the all 22.

Just watched first 2 series

Bengals first series Orlando Brown blew it on the Burrow sack...I missed that

Pats first series, Hill didn't break down and just tackle the RB, went for a big hit....I missed that

A revealing clip ... I think one dynamic missing from his analysis is on the drive two before that I think Burrow tweaked his wrist on his recovered fumble, so Burrow went in to that last drive unable to throw fully (his balls were already wobbly on the drive prior). So Burrow is likely gun shy there because he knows he can't really throw deep and is one blindside blast from a shattered wrist and another 9 month rebab.

On the sideline I saw a few coaches ask Burrow before that last drive "you good to go?" and he said yes. But again, Burrow is such a trooper; he will say yes even if his arm is hanging out of the socket.

Now Burrow may not have permanently injured himself, but still felt something off / different and that of course is going to really affect your psyche in that situation. He's clearly not the Burrow even from earlier in the game on his last two series.

If you go back to the practices during camp some of his deep balls had a little wobble even then.  He definitely tweaked it a bit yesterday though.
