My thoughts exactly. Some of these guys may be flat out stupid, which means they will be prone to do stupid things in any situation including encounters with law enforcement.

i'd love to know how the whole thing went down.... i mean he is a huge black man in a pearl white escalade on some rimmmms. he should keep a white guy with him at all times. thus when trouble occurs he can have a spokesman that will keep him from getting tased, askew is a laid back lazy chill no truble startin guy, i find it kinda hard to beleive he "ran" from police, as he is lazy and has some hot dogs stashed away at all times. im thinking maybe the popo put his hand on his tazer or even got it out and then he split, he is too mild manored for this type of thing.

The thing that bothers me about the offseason "problems" is that it just shows the ignorance of some human beings. If it was another team I would feel the same, its just one of those.... what the fuck is wrong with people things. I blame them and their parents. Now lets win some fucking games.

Well, this story just made the front page at ESPN.com. At this point, not only am I tired of defending the behavior of my favorite NFL team, I would agree with the detractors. This kind of behavior needs a strong and swift disciplinary reaction, otherwise this shit will continue to happen. It's embarrassing to me, as a fan, that our team has had this many off the field problems in just one offseason....and half of those problems by guys who haven't even made the team yet. Something has to give here. This is beyond ridiculous.

With all that said, I think the CBA and the players union are the reasons that some of our players are still employed by the Bengals. You can't punish/suspend/cut anybody for acting stupid and embarrasing the the franchise without having a grievance filed against the team.

Yep! Although Askew doesn't seem to be the smartest of people...

The woman in the video is as ignorant as they come. She was probably driving her baby's daddy stolen piece of shit car and thought that the man of her dreams could talk the cop out of giving her a ticket.

"What a dumb bitch"

ESPN.COM has it up on the front page in their little headlines box.

I hate the media.

DT Askew charged with resisting arrestAssociated Press

CINCINNATI -- Officers trying to arrest Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Matthias Askew after a parking violation used a Taser to subdue him and charged him with resisting arrest.

Askew

The 24-year-old Askew struggled with officers trying to handcuff him Saturday evening and broke away before he was shocked, police spokesman Lt. Tom Lanter said. Askew ignored an officer's warning to move his illegally parked car and then refused to give his identification, Lanter said.

Askew, also charged with obstructing official business, was released on his own recognizance and was scheduled to appear in court Monday, a jail official said.

The 6-foot-5, 302-pound lineman was a fourth-round draft pick in 2004 from Michigan State. He played in five games as a rookie, but was active for only one game last season.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said Sunday morning he could not confirm Askew's arrest and had no other information.

The arrest came about a week after Bengals owner Mike Brown issued a statement to reassure fans the team has standards for its players. Three other Bengals have been charged with criminal offenses in recent months.

"We want our fans to know that we share their concerns regarding the recent off-field conduct of several Bengals players," Brown said in the statement. "We expect our players to be good citizens, as most are, and we hold them accountable for their conduct under team and league rules."

Last month, second-year receiver Chris Henry pleaded not guilty in Covington, Ky., to charges that he provided alcohol to three underage females. He also faces a drunken driving charge in suburban Cincinnati, and is scheduled for trial Aug. 21 in Florida on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

A.J. Nicholson, a fifth-round pick in April, was charged last month with burglarizing the apartment of a former Florida State teammate. He also faces grand theft and vandalism charges in Florida.

Also last month, defensive end Frostee Rucker was charged with two counts of spousal battery and vandalism in Los Angeles. The third-round pick has denied the allegations.
