GoatGreen Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Word around the league is that the Chiefs want to make a rare in season trade to unload Tony G. Would you trade Chad for Tony? Yes, yes, I know it will never happen. We all know the Bengals run a vanilla front office. (haha?) But if you were the Bengals GM that does not exist, would you do it? If so, do you think the Chiefs would bite or would they want more?

ccartman2 Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Not in a million years would I do that. Tony is aging and would only help us for a couple of seasons. This season is lost already, so this season would be a complete waste to have him. If they trade Chad, they will need draft picks for him and with his performance this year, it won't be near what was offered in the offseason.

mongo Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I strongly believe Utecht is unused, not incapable. I would not make the trade.

Gonzo's about 2 years from retiring, if that.
I strongly believe Utecht is unused, not incapable. BengalsOwn Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 This is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard btw...
GoatGreen Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008
I'm not opposed to trading Chad for the right deal, but why on earth would we make that deal? Clearly.
well 1) Chad's got nowhere to walk to. I'm all for trading Chad, but its got to either be for draft picks, or for a player at a position of need, which TE isn't.
WhoDeyMatt Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 ESPN reported TONY asked to be traded to a team that was in CONTENTION. That certainly is NOT the Bengals. Besides we already signed a CATCHING TE.
mongo Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008
Why?
Are you asking why we should trade for Tony, or why I think Utecht is under-utilized?
-GoBengals- Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 seems rather lopsided... id prefer to trade ochoc for high picks and keep utecht, id rather palmer be throwing 4 yards to a chad johnson than to any TE on the planet.
DontPushMe Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 thats not even remotely a good fit, this season is over with and tonys only got one or 2 left in the tank id rather try and swap chad for roy williams if the lions are interested
gatorclaws Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Bad idea. We could potentially still get a 1st for Chad. You think Tony is worth a 1st?

GoatGreen Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 Agreed it seems a lopsided trade at this point. But rather than create another thread, I'll ask this. If Chad only ends up with like 500 yards this season, what will that do to his trade value?
Patmo Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 No way ! It's simple. When Carson gets time to throw, whbich hasn't bewnn recently, Chad and TJ are two of the best receivers in the league. Chad hasn't lost it. Neither has TJ lost it. It's the OL that can no longer protect the QB. Chad for Tony ? Can't see it.

We are a team that sucks, and we need draft picks to create more depth and try to improve. The Chiefs are a team that sucks, and needs draft picks to create more depth and try to improve. Why in the world would 2 struggling teams trade high profile players for each other? This doesn't even make sense.

ThurmanMunster Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 lmao. id rather just release chad.
turningpoint Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Larry Johnson for a 3rd round pick sounds more up my alley.

You think Tony is worth a 1st?
Who is going to give us a 1st round pick for Chad Johnson? He is now 30 years old, his numbers are declining, and he's the same pain in the ass prima-donna he's always been. We should have dealt him last year when the Redskins offered a 1st. I guarantee we won't get that kind of offer this year.
