we have never given an old free agent a big payday, he have brought in some older veterans to be that.. older veterans.. never once did we overpay one of them...or give them a huge deal...

Resign the ones that are FAs, bring in another 3/4 players drafted in rounds 2-4 with the hopes of at least 2 having an inside track of starting when TC opens.

Then collectively over 2 FA periods hopefully the guys they do sign can fill void left from the diaster that's been the 2nd/3rd round from their own draft classes between 2004-2007.

RB, OL, and CB at a quick glance looks the deepest and strongest.

It's debateable on the fact alone Shayne was actually obtained via wavier wire right before the season started.

I don't get any heartburn over him leaving. I hope he stays but it's not on my list of must haves like you must have Benson or another top RB to avoid having to draft one high.

He also can kick the ball in the endzone on kick offs, something graham struggled at.

He's also 81% for his career. if you compare him to shayne from inside 49yd's he's better. Shayne's missed a lot of clutch kicks from inside 49 that cost us games and playoff spots. Anything over 50 IMO is you might as well flip a coin.

We could also get him in the $2-2.5 million/yr range.

That list is a bit off. Besides not having Jason Brown on it, it lists Chris Perry as a RFA for the Bengals, and lists several players who re-signed contracts during the season as free agents. Examples would be Camarillo, Gamble, and Finnegan.

shayne has WAAAAAAAAY more touchbacks than nugent, nugent had 9 one year, and 1-2 other two years, i guess was hurt last year.. shayne has 8,8,13,2 in the last 4 years, nugent has ,9,2,1...

shayne fields goals, are roughly 10% higher than nugents.. and his kickoffs are longer.


nugent had a kickoff distance average once in the last 4 years, shayne had it that high or higher EACH of the last 3 years.. and 3 of 4.

shayne is better at every single aspect of the kicking game than nugent.. his returns against his kicks are shorter, and kicks longer, so starting position for opponents is further back.. and lets not pretend PBS is a glory stadium to kick in. ive been to giants stadium a few times now.. id rather kick there..but lets call them equal for arguements sake.

and for a measly mil more, maybe 1.5 mil more than we would pay nugent.. id take shayne in a heartbeat..

and ill be honest.. if i were making a mil or two a year, id have more shit than he does....

also not too interested in what his ex fiancee or her friends have to say.. hell i dont care that chris henry almost shot some people.. i certainly dont care if shayne is or is not a douche. thats his business.

Nugent is terrible, easily the worst Jets draft pick in recent memory.

If it comes down to it and Graham walks (it would be absoltuley absurd to use the Franchise tag on him unless TJ and Benson are already signed long term) I would rather take a flyer on an undrafted FA Kicker that will cost 450K-500K than bring Nugent in for 2.5 million...If your gonna spend that much or a little more on a kicker, it makes a whole lot more sense to spend it on someone who is accomplished.
