The Rooney's discussed Ben's punishment with Goodell. If they traded for Leftwich,it makes one wonder if they've been told the punishment will be harsher than what people have been discussing.

Hmmm....6 to 8 games maybe?

That move makes me wonder if the Looneys don't already know the outcome as well. Leftwich seems like a panic move to me.

My guess is 4. It looks "tough" without being tough. They get a bye to regroup. The only hard team they play before then is the Ravens, who they at least know, and they get them at home.

You probably need a reliable backup for a 4 game suspension. Two games you might be able to slide.

i cant considering trading a 7th rounder for a backup qb to be a panic move... hell we can waive 7th round picks all together if they want... its a snore round... they basically gave up having to cut some dude and got leftwich... if ben gets 4 games.. and dixon gets hurt (lil fella big division) they are TOAST so this fixes that for now.

If it were only 2 games I think they would have gone with Dennis Dixon, who I think offers a lot more than Leftwich at this point.
yep, if this was only 2, or even 4 games, they wouldn't have traded for a QB. Especially with Jeff Garcia still out there.

Not big into conspiracy theories but.....

Could the Steelers already have a plan in place to get rid of Roethlisberger and not want to tip their hand before the draft? Not that the top 2 QB's will be there when they are picking anyways, but they could see something they like in Mccoy or even Tebow. The Steelers have never been big on a star QB anyways, more of someone who fits in the system.

Call me crazy.....just a little pre-draft conversation

Steelers' Roethlisberger awaits fate; trade not ruled outTuesday, April 20, 2010By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-GazetteWhile they are expecting to learn tomorrow what punishment quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will receive from National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell, the Steelers have received trade feelers from other teams and have not ruled out the possibility of dealing their two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback, the Post-Gazette has learned.

It is not believed the Steelers are actively seeking to trade Roethlisberger, nor are they close to doing what they did with Super Bowl XLIII MVP Santonio Holmes, who was traded for a fifth-round pick to the New York Jets because the team was planning to release him anyway.

Nonetheless, the possibility Roethlisberger could be traded, provided the price is right, is not being discounted by the team.

That's a pretty brutal schedule down the tail end for the Steelers. I can easily see them losing 10 games this year. Including 3 of the first four. Another losing season may just take the cake for the steelers to ship him out too.

How convenient. They have a week 5 bye (2 weeks to get ready) and don't have a prime time game till week 8. It's BS that they adjusted the entire schedule because of Ben.

And you're surprised because....?

Fucking goodell LOVES the stealers. I still won't be surprised if Ben gets 4 games reduced to 2 based on 'good behavior' (i.e. good behavior = not raping anyone between now and the beginning of training camp).

Was anyone surprised to see the stoolers get the clowns on week 17? As soon as it was announced that there would be league games only the last week of the season, that matchup was as good as gold.

Hope the clowns kick their asses. :machinegunyellow: ....with the playoffs on the line...again!

this is just proof that that ass clown goodell is so hung up on ratings and rooney's cock that he is willing to lose an extreme amount of fans to switch the schedule around to accept the suspension. their is not even a single pittsburgh fan out there that knows this was not set up. i am so pissed right now that i may just jump the fence at the mnf game and rape roethlisberger myself! maybe he needs to fell how that woman feels. let goodell show up in pbs. that motherfucker does not want to show his face in cincinnati. worthless piece of shit cocksucker!!! i hope we sweep those asshats again this year.

if he does get 6 weeks it should be the last 6 weeks

Be interesting to see how the ESPN cameras avoid showing the rapist signs that will be there that night.

In fact, fans should dress as Rapistburger/Coed/Security Force and parody him all day and night. Its near enough to Halloween
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Steelers reacquired quarterback Byron Leftwich by dealing a seventh-round draft pick to Tampa Bay, a sign they expect Ben Roethlisberger to be suspended for the start of the season.

Leftwich backed up Roethlisberger in 2008, when the Steelers won the Super Bowl. He knows offensive coordinator Bruce Arians' system and could be ready to play Sept. 12 when the Steelers open against Atlanta.

The Steelers play three teams that didn't make the playoffs -- the Falcons, Bucs and Titans -- plus division rival Baltimore in their first four games, a period that could span any Roethlisberger suspension.

Pittsburgh already has third-year quarterback Dennis Dixon and longtime backup Charlie Batch under contract. Batch has been injured each of the past two seasons. Dixon has started only one NFL game.

The Steelers could learn as early as Wednesday if Roethlisberger will be suspended for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

What an absolute joke. Whatever credibility Goodell has when addressing the question of bias is out the window. Of course there is no relation between the schedule and Ben's potential suspension.
