Just because Hobson put this on the Bengals.com site doesn't mean the Bengals coaches even knew that report existed, much less made any decision based on that report.

Even so, it just confirms what a great pick Zeitler was and that the Bengals were right to grade him higher than DeCastro.

OL Zeitler didn't allow sack in three seasons

Most scouts pointed out Bengals first-round selection OG Kevin Zeitler has strength as a run-blocking guard in the Wisconsin scheme, however, he didn't allow a single sack in the last three seasons. "From a mental standpoint, it will be an easy transition," offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said. "From a technique standpoint it will be an easy transition."

No, it has been quite justified.....I've given him credit when it was due...there were games he played well, but just as many games he played like shit--not average or just OK--like total stinky, steaming dog-shit. Glad he's gone.
No it hasn't. He's still in the NFL. I assume by the deal he was given that he'll be in the run for a starting position.

Like him or hate him Livings has certainly exceeded the NFL life expectations of UDFA.

What else is he going to say? They're celebrating in Pittsburgh. Is he going to come out and say "we hoped DeCastro would still be on the board at 27. He wasn't and we're crushed but we hope the consolation prize will work out ok"
You'll notice the Bengals did not say that Dre was their highest rated CB nor even their 2nd highest rated CB. What was said was they had 3 CB rated for the first round and Dre was the last one available.

He wouldn't say it if he didn't believe it. If they are celebrating in Pittsburgh just because they drafted DeCastro, then people in In that shitty city are idiots. Bengals have a better O-line, O-line coach, and history of drafting O-lineman. If they preferred Zeitler to DeCastro - and they wouldnt have been the only team to do so-then they made the brilliant move to get their man and an extra pick. And, forgive me, but any person on this board who dismisses Zeitler as a "consolation prize" is a boot-licking jackass. And your pathetic love for DeCastro is ridiculous.

by Paul Dehner Jr., CBSSports.com
The Bengals employ cerebral offensive linemen, specifically C Kyle Cook and LT Andrew Whitworth . First-round selection Kevin Zeitler scored an exceptional 40 on the Wunderlic test, adding to the intelligent mix. "They're a lot smarter than I am," OC Jay Gruden said. "It's pretty disturbing, actually. Very comforting that they are smart, but will be more comforting when they actually block the guy."

Akili Smith had a 37 on his Wonderlic. Yes, I realize he scored a 12 the first time he took the test.
Craig Krenzel (38)
Drew Henson (42)
Brian Griese (39)

The point is that Wonderlic defines how well a person can take a test but not how well it translates into an NFL career.

In regards to Lapham's comment on Zeitler's "football IQ, attitude, versatility and ability to play center...."

Is this based upon a portion of his Wonderlic score ? Perhaps a personal interview conducted by Lapham himself ? Versatility in that he can also play Center ?

Lapham is basing versatility on what ? Look at Zeitler's record while in college. I think he might be ok but I am not seeing the versatility Lapham claims. He played pretty much only at Right Guard his entire time at Wisconsin.

It's not just one thing, it is a host of issues with this pick. The talk is almost preprogrammed on autodial/autopilot. Almost script like. The tune the coaches are singing is one of a pick we got and not what was missed out on. No sense in crying about what could have been and instead celebrate what we have.

No reason to complain I guess. We're stuck with this decision for a few years and for better or worse he is a Bengal now. Hopefully this kid can live up to the hype given to him by numerous posters here on this board.

Other than what has already been said, I will join around the campfire and sing kumbaya with the rest of the group...

Clearly someone else didn't read the 30 page scouting report I listed demonstrating, by looking at stats, that this guy was not just the best Guard to come out the last three years, but one of the best O-Lineman to come out of college football in the last 20. Please go read it, then get back to us.

I know, I know, I'm becoming a broken record and I'll stop. But watching his clips plus reading that report, well, how could you not be thrilled?

Agreed. That was very funny! And are not Oline usually the most intelligent guys as a position group year in year out?

Exactly. I don't get the name calling to fellow Bengal fans during the draft. I've seen it several times the past 24 hours.

Zeitlergeist should start week 1.

A starting RG was our #1 need imo going into the draft.

It wasn't my first choice (Glenn), but after researching it I like it.

The board needs more of this.

I also heard this guy saved a box full of kittens from a burning building on the 5th story without using a ladder, the steps, or the elevator, all before arriving at the NFL draft dressed and ready to enter the Green room without a drop of sweat. That had to make him a high pick than DeCastro alone.

Mel Kiper Jr. just reported that Zeitler was so versatile he was the man behind the mask on all of the Scream movies including the funny ones. So he can kill people and be funny at the same time. I bet you didn't find that in his scouting report.

bam, that's all we need. i'd put a little more meat on him (steady diet of steak and potatoes), keep him on the weights, work on his get off and refine his technical flaws...then get him ready for the season opener. like alexander said, i think he's going to win a lot of people over.
