Ben Roethlisberger tells the Pgh Post-Gazette he has a slight tear in his rotator cuff. Says he is saving his arm now that he's 30 [s]#[/s]Steelers[/background]

big baby Ben is already getting his excuses in line. I hope Dunlap rips his arm off and then clubs Tomlin over the head with it.

My first thought.... You got to be fucking kidding me. He has to be the biggest drama queen in the entire league.

It has been my belief for awhile that Ben has been actively writing his own legacy. He knows he won't go down in history as a great pure passer like Marino, a wizard in crunch time like Elway or an unparalleled technician like Montana. That leaves being a tough gritty throwback type and all of these injuries he discloses, and exaggerates, are in a conscious effort to advance that legacy.

Hahaha.

But on a serious note... I hate Ben as much as the next guy but we as Bengals fans really underrate him. He is a fantastic quarterback who is extremely dynamic and has the ability to pull plays out of his ass like very few I've ever seen. He is the reason shittsburgh is a perennial contender at this point. And while it'd be nice for him to stop patting his own back so much, the guy does play with some serious injuries and thats respectable in its own right. I'm not sure how long he'll last with how banged up he is all the time. Hopefully not much longer.

I don't think so. He's had a shutdown defense his entire career. He should get credit for making the clutch drives but its mainly on the back of the defense.

Pittsburgh took Neil O Donnell to the Superbowl and had Kordell Stewart in AFC championship games. Ben can make a couple more throws than they could.

Mike Tomlin does NOT approve of this post....

Laughing my ass off right now. Turned on ESPN and Stephen A Smith is going on about Ben. He actually said he is concerned about this injury and it must be very serious because it is Not like Ben to open up about his injuries publicly . Wut?!

I do not know if anyone else saw this just to confirm I heard it correctly. It was so absurd it had to be a joke. But I guess anything that comes out of Stephen A Smith's mouth is absurd...

I agree. I've seen him escape from a certain sack, only to convert an impossible 3rd and long for a first down, far too many times. He is a superb QB. Unorthodox, and whiny, but great.

He has a skill, like Fran Tarkenton used to. Making the throws without the play breaking down is another question. That's how we beat him in 2009 - pressure without letting him bust the play and improvise.

Still, the effect of Pitta's injury will be felt on the Ravens team.

I can tell you that locally, definitely concern among ravens fans over their injury situation. There is also worry over the state of bryant mckinnie who didnt report on time and i dont think has practiced yet. Their o-line is a question mark...down enough they are kinda excited about bobbie willams.

Bobbie could move the stack when healthy last year - didn't quite seem all there on pass pro. Not sure how much another year will help this out.

If you’re an out-of-work interior offensive lineman, you should probably be forwarding your resume to the Cowboys.
Guard Nate Livings missed Friday’s practice with a hamstring injury, which put him on the sideline alongside three other interior linemen. Guard Mackenzy Bernadeau and guard/center Kevin Kowalski haven’t practiced at all in camp and guard/center Bill Nagy went down with the dreaded high-ankle sprain earlier this week.
“We’ve got to get some guys in here who can play,” coach Jason Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News.
Three veteran candidates were at Cowboys camp trying out on Friday. Derrick Dockery, Montrae Holland and Daniel Loper were all in Oxnard and all fit the bill of what the Cowboys need right now. They all played for the Cowboys last season which would allow them to jump right into the mix at practice without slowing up the rest of the unit.
All of them were let go from the Cowboys because they weren’t good enough last season, however, so it’s far from an ideal situation if the Cowboys need to go into the season with any of them playing a major role.

A wrist injury wiped out his offseason program, and now a knee injury could plague his preseason preparations.
Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne, the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft, will undergo an MRI on a sore knee, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.
Claiborne suffered the injury Wednesday, took Thursday off, and didn’t feel right on Friday.
“He had a little twinge there in his knee and our trainers thought it would be best to give him the afternoon off,” Cowboys owner/G.M. Jerry Jones said. “At this time we are not concerned.”
The results of the MRI could change that tune, quickly.
