2012 Opponents Thread

Recommended Posts

Just a preseason opponent and not a big deal but I thought I'd pass it on.

CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) -- About 20 New York Jets players were involved in a sideline brawl during practice at training camp after running back Joe McKnight and safety D'Anton Lynn tangled after a play.
Lynn, son of Jets running backs coach Anthony Lynn, shoved McKnight out of bounds after a screen pass Monday. McKnight fired the football at Lynn - and the two got into it, with McKnight charging Lynn and throwing a punch.
Players ran over and a pileup ensued, with players rolling through advertisement placards and into an area where reporters where standing - a few feet in front of a barricade where fans sit. Coach Rex Ryan, along with several players, ran over to break up the melee by pulling players off the pile. It lasted about a minute.

One thing for sure this 1st preseason game. ESPN will be all over it with Tebow. They might even mention the Bengals as the opponent at some point.

I'm not looking forward to hearing about how he saved 4 orphans from a house fire either.

If that wasn't it, that has to be close. Didn't he change it after a while to missya15 from something else? Not that's it reall important but I was just thinking about older members who don't post much anymore and he was one of them. BengalsOwn always vanishes and comes back for a minute and leaves again. I'm sure there's way more.

Okay, maybe he changes it from missya15 to something else then... ?

Quiet part of the season for the boards.. I have always found the more hardcore (and mature) fans tend to stick around during the off season.. We should see more people come around again when the football starts to pick back up here in a week or so...

I'm a big reader on here too. I try to post, to keep the ideas fresh and the conversation going sometimes, but the main thing I get out of this is news, mainly from oldschooler or Bengals1181 posting articles or tweets.

Speaking of which... does anyone else rarely read an entire article? I am starting to assume tweets are the way to go. They're straight to the point and instant. If I am going through an article, I'll read quotes and move on to the replies.

Absence of Mike Wallace stretches Steelers thin at WR

The Steelers were counting on their receiver depth easing the transition to a new offense this offseason. The only problem is, one absence has revealed they may not have as much as they thought. With Mike Wallace continuing his holdout, the Steelers realize they’re one injury away from someone from a bunch of unknowns seeing the field.
I guess this thread is as good as any for this...

I was listening to an interview with the Steelers long-time beat writer, Jim Wexxel (or something like that) and he was saying it is far from a guarantee that David Decastro will be the opening day starter at one of the guard spots. Says he looks good on screens and out in space but that he is getting man handled by the Steelers D Lineman. Said he is under-sized compared to the Steelers other OGs who are better able to get push and also better able to hold up against the bull rush in pass protection.

Found that pretty interesting and seems to back up what some of the scouting reports were saying about Decastro.

Also, he mentioned that Mendenhall is probably going to miss the whole season and that the Steelers would likely move on without him. They really like Redman. He'd be coming off of an injury (though with 18 months to heal) in 2013, but he'd be an interesting FA option. I remember the Bengals liked him in the draft and those are often the types of guys we pursue.
