Le Tigre
I am no capologist by any measure--but that is an obscene amount of money. So, of course, now begins the "cut this and that guy to get even more money" phase.
spicoli
The only guy that truly NEEDS to be cut is Vontaze Burfict.....other than that there might be some minor cap casualties along the way but likely no one that's gonna make much of a difference one way or another. BengalFanInTO
I agree on the Burfict cut and money isn't the prevailing factor. There is absolutely no reason the Bengals shouldn't be able to add some legitimate NFL starters in this year's free agency. They have no internal free agents of any consequence that are going to cost big money to re-sign. Dennard will likely be the most costly but, shouldn't be anything that will break the bank. After that, even if they want to re-sign guys like Eifert, Kroft, Johnson, Brown and/or Uzomah there shouldn't be a dramatic hit to the cap. What I am sadly expecting to see/hear is how they have guys like Green, Boling, Boyd, Bernard and Billings that need to be re-signed the following offseason and there will be a need to squirrel away the cash to do so. The team has gaping holes at OT, LB and potentially TE and could use quality depth at CB, S, WR and OG. There's simply too much to do in the draft and a quality free agency period is a must if this team is going to rebound.

sparky151
The Bengals rookies will cost about 5 mil. Hobson will tell us otherwise but we have about 45 mil available to spend before making any cuts or restructures. Here's a modest, unimaginative free agent program that would leave us with 15 mil going into the season: Re-sign Dennard for about 5-6 mil per year Bring back Uzomah for 2 mil. Add Jesse James for 3 mil. Sign KJ Wright for 8 mil Sign JuWaun James for 10 mil This would free up the draft considerably. We'd be looking for another LB, RG, and depth. Say something like White and Lindstrom in rounds 1 and 2. A more aggressive plan would be something like: Sign Nick Foles for 25 mil per year. Trade if possible, otherwise cut Dalton to save 16. Cut Burfict to gain 5 mil. Sign CJ Mosley for 10 mil Sign Trent Brown for 10 mil At this point, we're still 21 mil under the cap and can add a CB and couple of TEs. Your modest plan would be the most aggressive plan this franchise ever attempted other than flying in Warren Sapp for some Gold Star. A JuWan James signing would be stunning. Even Darryl Williams (RT) from Carolina would shock me.
fluhartz
them signing any significant free agent would shock me. I am actually still shocked they even tried, by trading picks for Glenn last year. Oh well.. they did finally get rid of ole marv, so we'll see... They could dump all of the other trash and get both Ju'Wan James and Darryl Williams. Having 3 decent OTs (Glenn) would be huge since all three have had injury issues. Williams played at an All-Pro level in 2017, hurt last year. Keep Hart as cheap backup. Then get the linebacker from LSU. If he is gone, go with one of the two stud CBs or trade down and pick up next best LB and a TE.
