And has been for years. Do we know who the scouts for this position group are and how long they have held that job?

The only "scouts" I'm certain of other than the coaches are Tobin and his dad. I think the last time I checked the team's website there were 2 other guys listed. No clue how long they've been here or how they're related to the Brown family ( :ninja: ?).

Williams had a guaranteed contract due to the Bengals exercising his 5th year option. So he wouldn't be cut but could be traded. Indeed, he even asked to be. Unfortunately for the Bengals, Tobin's ego prevented him from admitting another draft bust and we kept Jonah. It was reported at the time that there would be a market for him. If we'd traded him, we could have gained a pick to use on Jones. So we paid 12.6 mil to field a poorer player. Not good Bob.

Short of waving his peen at traffic Duke seems bulletproof in this organization. When things go right he's a genius and when they don't it's just bad luck.

This isn’t just a Bengals issue guys. I know most can only see it one way but the of OL play in the entire league is down. The college spread has absolutely decimated the NFL talent pool. I doubt if it comes back either. Likely what we’ll see is the spread become mainstream in the NFL.

the browns used a spread DL quite abit because we stayed in the shotgun, we have to quit being married to 1 scheme and learn to adjust to what the defense is doing. it was 3rd and 3 we lined up in the shotgun and they put the Dts inbetween the guards and tackles.   mary popins coulda came up to the center and qb snuck (sneaked?)  for 4 yards.,  if JB isnt healthy enough to line up under center for any plays then he needs to stay off the field.

The Bengals today released OT La'el Collins from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Collins, a ninth-year player, was placed on the Reserve/PUP list on Aug. 29. He originally joined the Bengals as an unrestricted free agent during the 2022 offseason and started 15 games at ROT for Cincinnati last season.

ok. our line sucked so bad on sunday they released a player on pup?

You've heard Jerry Tarkanian's line about the NCAA being so mad at Kentucky, they put Cleveland State on probation?

Maybe this is like that. Our RT options seem to be Williams, Smith, Ford, or Carman. If they could all play at once while only counting as 1 toward our 11 on the field, maybe they could have blocked Garrett half the time. Maybe.

Remember when I tried to rationalize that between Jonah, Collins & Carman we should be able to field a decent RT? Yeahhhh

:okay-min:

Did we ever get a reason as to why Jonah was the only starter playing significant time in the preseason? Was it something he wanted to do or were they trying to make him as resentful as possible after ignoring his trade demands?

He wanted to get some game reps at RT since it's a new position for him.

I would caution everyone not to overreact after 1 game, where they played together for the first time, during a monsoon, on slippery grass, and the QB didn't trust planting and cutting on his recovering calf with a wet field, against one of the best DEs to ever play in the NFL.

We will know a lot more after week 2.

This..

Brown's are made to run in the he mud shit and muck ...

Bengals are a passing team
