If you go by the PFF Big Board and consider the other positions that will be taken, you're likely looking at 4 1st rounders. And if you also consider the top of the draft and what teams may do, you are looking at having a real shot at the #2 guy IF we can make it into the top 10.

2024 NFL Draft Position Rankings: Offensive tackles | NFL Draft | PFF

Would they take him if they did though? They seem pretty gun shy about OL lately. The sensible thing would be to take a hard look at who was evaluating those bad picks but that would require some.. well, you know.

Looking at this I expect that we likely win 2 more games putting us at 7-10

I think we can move ahead of the Rams, Packers,

I think well tie with the Saints as far as record

I think the Bucks have 5 more wins in them so they drop below us.

Im not sure we can move much more if we win 2. Which would put us drafting at 13 overall.

We won't get the 1st ranked tackle at 13, we MIGHT have an outside shot at the 2nd ranked one.

I can't imagine they draft the 3rd ranked at 13, and with all our needs trading down MAY be an option depending on what is there.

Needs are T, DT, G, and WR. (Maybe a CB)

Have to think it's WR or trade down and get the 3rd ranked Tackle. DT and G don't make sense that high, and CB is a dark horse pick imho

Hard to say, alot depends on what happens with the coaching and F/O. But I can't imagine if one of the top ranked Tackles is there and you have a need (if Jonah leaves) that you pass on him. The Jamar vs Sewell argument, we had a need a both positions. If Tee is gone we may end up back in that same debate.

What they’ll do is simply take the best player available….which will almost assuredly NOT be a OT.

There simply aren’t enough OT’s in this draft that will grade out as first rounders.

I see 2 OT’s as first round locks right now and both will most likely be gone before we ever get on the clock.

The opposite take on that is Dane Brugler at the Athletic who just said this is a very good OT draft - I think he has 4 or 5 in his top 30 (I can check that) and another few in his top 50.

This is from Brugler's top 32:

#5 Olu Fashau

#6 Joe Alt

#10 JC Latham

#19 Amarius Mims

#22 Tyler Guyton

#27 Taliese Fuaga

#29 Jordan Morgan

#30 Patrick Paul

Gotta believe Alt and Fashau are long gone in a day of weak olines thruout the league.

Bears will try for Harrison Jr and one of these tackles.

The other won't be far behind..

Mims is a beast and may be picked by the Bengals.

Wonder how that will look on Katie's Letter to the Fans (announcing season ticket purchases):

"We set out to be bad, so that we could draft a potentially great offensive tackle. Get your tickets now!

Shit they're probably going to double down on Jonah, you're right. That avoids the whole problem & no one has to take responsibility for drafting a new RT.

Well somebody has to fill out his top50. He can’t not have any OTs. That doesn’t mean any of them are really worth it though.
IMO, you’ll be able to get the same guy in R3.

Looks like I have a bypass working, awesome. Thanks.

Interesting... using this as a guide, Numbers (where has he been, btw?) 4, 5 and 6

are TE Bowers, and OTs Fashany and Alt.

You know there will be a run on quarterbacks (and Harrison will be gone removing him from temptation)

so if we draft 5-7 we could get one.

Of course, I have full 100% confidence in the Bengals to somehow screw it up.

Win a few games, get cutesy and trade down for more draft picks and lower quality... etc.

Why?  Because we're Bengals, son.

A quality Guard in Round Two.

...........

Of course, tag Tee and go WR next year.

Would love to win the lottery, too.

Currently we draft at 15. I don't think that holds, I expect we draft higher.

But at 15 I think you have a outside shot at Latham, and absolutely can get Mims.

Question is do the Bengals like either of those guys? It's still WAY to early to get a feel on things.

I also think we end up drafting 12 at the worst and move into the top 7 at best. Which gives you a shot at Alt, and should be able to get Latham at that spot.

I also agree that there is going to be at least 2 QBs taken and some WRs too, MAYBE even Bowers, and probably a DE.

Get in the top 10 and I don't think getting at least the 2nd ranked LT in Alt is out of the question.

For reference, I went to the PFF site and what I like is they show the position snaps each prospect has played in college. So, of theiur top 75 prospects, the following Tackles played primarily at RT:

Fuaga

Latham

Mims

Guyton

Getting an RT is obviously the need, but if we can get a guy who can start at RT and move over to the left side when OBJ is gone that would be the best scenario.

So if Amarius Mims is there at 10 or so with his #19 ranking by Athletic they'd be reaching too much?

I'm not seeing alot of difference in

the top 5 or so OTs especially on the right side.

Makes me wonder.
