NEED TDs to beat Balt and the other teams that have actual offenses. Our Defense is POOP! We may like our players, we tend to always love our players, but the talent isn't there or has regressed for some. And yet, there IS a time to take the points. As in 2022 in Baltimore, if we'd taken those points, we theoretically would've won. Sometimes 3 points is a lot better than 0 points, regardless of how badly you think you need 7. I don't have a problem, though, with Zac's decisions last night overall. I do have a problem with his play calls on those downs, though. Quote

Going for it twice with 2 yards to go and calling go routes to an unreliable rookie is a choice. Not gameplanning your #1 receiver with the game on the line is a choice. Playing soft cover 3 for the entire second half is a choice. Mistakes happen. I'm a LOT more concerned about the choices made in this game. Did Zac call those plays or did Burrow check to them? How do you know? 1 Quote
KA14_HOF Posted November 8, 2024 Report Posted November 8, 2024 The one good thing is that I suspect Baltimore lost their chance at a Super Bowl title last night. Coming into last night's game, their offense had begun to look unstoppable. But into the 3rd quarter, our often woeful D had pretty much contained them. A costly turnover and some horrendous tackling later, and they were back in the game and our D ran out of gas. But I think the blueprint was put out there. A team with better defensive personnel (which usually find their way into the post-season) will take what we did and do it better. That's how it went down for the nearly-invincible 2007 Patriots. First, the Eagles showed it was possible to contain Brady & Moss. They got impatient toward the end of the game and it cost them late. Baltimore then took what the Eagles did, and did it better, and would have won if not for an ill-timed timeout that gave Brady a 2nd shot, which he converted for a game-winning TD. But along came the Giants. Not the best team, but the team with the personnel best suited for stopping Brady. Unlike the Eagles & Ratbirds, who pressured Brady up the middle, the Giants were able to pressure Brady w/o blitzing. They took the blueprint put out there by Philly, and enhanced by Baltimore, and executed it to perfection, and the greatest team in NFL history....turned out to be mortal after all. I think we were to the Ratbirds last night what the Eagles were to the '07 Patriots. Somebody with better personnel is gonna take what we did and do it better, and for the entire game. And it's going to derail this Ratbirds' season. 2 Quote

That said, come playoff time with sketchy weather, sometimes passing games suffer ...and they play the run well, as they have a solid front and they tackle pretty well. So it may not be as much of a disadvantage. And, they have guys that can force turnovers... guys like Roquan and Humphrey (who forced an INT and a funble in the two head-to-head games), and they can get after the passer some. Dunno. I'd love it if the Bengals got a WC and played the Ravens again, with a healthy Tee and OBJ this time. A likely shootout again, but it'd be a fun watch. 1 Quote

IKOTA Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 How the hell is Tanner Hudson your primary read on the most important play of the year, a play that could potentially define the season? On a night where JaMarr Chase, potentially the best WR in the world, having the night he’s having? With SINGLE coverage??? Hudson was doubled as was Gesicki. Chase had SINGLE coverage. How does Burrow not even look his way? Every aspect of this play from the call, to the execution, makes zero sense to me. Burrow is a hell of a QB, but that’s inexcusable to me. All he had to do was slide to his left a few steps, protection was good on that side, and he would see JaMarr wide open on an in cut. 1 2 Quote
saphead Posted November 10, 2024 Report Posted November 10, 2024 Is there any way we can get to 6-6 and go from there? I know it would require doing something crazy like winning 2 games in a row. 2 Quote
