  2. I'm not always posting a viewpoint because it is an authoritative reference, but because I agree with it, or find it interesting / worth considering. Whether the person is a pro scout or a plumber is usually immaterial.

  3. The problem is he likes big headlines built on the façade of fake back-loaded money, that center himself as being this "amazing" agent. For him, it's not about whether they play out their contracts, but whether he can cite a big number on signing day for his PR. The Bengals don't do business that way. They like real contracts. Which is why they are not compatible together and clash. Plus his tactic is basically ... If the guy is worth 10, walk into the owners office and say you want 20 and then shout "la la la la la" until the team gives in from fan annoyance at what is taking so long. He's very patient gambling with other guys futures as he's already rich.

  6. Love Reader. No doubt he was an impact player and a huge part of our success in ‘21 and ‘22. Few players in the league can dominate like he can at his position. That said, injuries were an issue in 3 of his 4 seasons in Cincinnati. He only played 5 games his first year, missed 7 games in ‘22, and suffered another major quad injury late last year. I would have wanted him back anyway but I understand the reticence to commit to a player at his age and injury history. It’s not certain whether he’ll be ready for the start of next year and his best years are likely behind him. I hope he does well in Detroit and there’s no doubt he leaves behind a major hole to fill.

  7. Lol...as if they planned it that way...c'mon BJ...seriously...they let Bell leave and got lucky Carolina is the worst run org in pro sports and Bell was cut. I would say this is a lucky coincidence moreso than a masterclass..

  15. Ugh, well, that sucks, but good for him, getting another bag. The Bengals knew about his injuries, including his most recent one, and the state of his rehab too… which especially for a huge guy, was gonna be tough. I know it was out there that he will be ready for the regular season… but I’m not sure about that, and where that came from (probably his agent). The fact that the Bengals weren’t willing to pony up on a 2-year deal that doesn’t appear to be much different than what an older Rankins got tells you something, IMO. Tough call. The Bengals’ pass rush got better but the run defense took a big hit. Bottom line, Reader had a huge impact, both on and off the field - and he’ll be sorely missed. They don’t currently have the ballast up front that he brought, along with his ability to occupy blockers in the run game. Wish him the best… guess it’s one other reason to watch more of a Detroit next year. They’ve got a hella DL, that’s for sure.

  16. lol...bro..you keep posting random fans opinions as if that is helping make your point...Will Lutz is a marketing guy..https://www.linkedin.com/in/willie-lutz-027026134/ His eyes for oline talent evaluation doesn't mean shit because he's a fan just like you and me...all of these guys you keep posting are just parroting opinions and giving uneducated takes to talk themselves into agreeing with whatever moves the Bengals might make. Willie Lutz's eye's for oline play is worth fuck all...he doesn't anything about Carman's floor and Becton's ceiling, he's just talking out of his ass.

  17. Oline has become an even more premium position due to lack of quality players. If I'm the GM I'm drafting 2 Olinemen and a NT above anything else. Every play works or doesn't due to the trench play.

  18. This feels like we are trying to polish a turd with this guy. Pray we can find a good one in the draft then we won't need someone with a shit injury history to count on starting for more than a little while.

  19. That was against lesser competition, he will be facing elite athletes, not bums in the ACC...Myles Garrett and Watt are not toys and if anyone will be getting thrown around it's Becton. The Bengals definitely would start Becton because they are starting Volson, who is also a diaster, it's what they do...And if you are moving him around to play positions he's never played before, why not move him to RB, TE, or DT...this isn't Madden where you can change someone's position by clicking a few buttons and it works out fine. You are trying to use random scouting reports from non-NFL scouts based on what could happen vs. the last 4 years of tape on what has occurred to say that the Bengals should sign this guy. Mike Renner is an accounting major that has never played NFL football, worked as scout for any NFL team, but got a job at PFF and his now a draft guru because??? Mike Renner is watching film just like me and you giving us his uneducated opinion, it's worthless and doesn't cover up the last 4 years of bad or non-existent play of Becton. What makes you think Carman and Smith have reached their ceiling but Becton has not, because he's bigger than them? There are plenty of big guys who can't play RT in the NFL at a high level, elite measurables don't mean shit if you can't put it all together and play consistently good football.

  20. He has Tee's agent. Who is bitter with the Bengals. We should just automatically boycott any Mulugheta players in the future. Too much hassle.

  21. They need to sign Becton so that Hobs has his token "this guy has rehaped his body and attitude and is ready to be the starter and surpise people" article.

  22. Are you sure about that, this is the same front office that re-signed and started multiple awful offensive linemen over the past few years, including Bobby Hart because and I quote current Bengals VP and Pumpkin's boy toy..Troy Blackburn.. This was 5 years ago and the same decision makers are still in place and the Bengals still haven't found a solution to the RT problem, despite multiple picks and paying Bobby Hart 17 million dollars. I don't trust this front office and coaching staff to get this right because time shown that they are not capable of doing so..

  23. He's low-cost for a reason, he's not very good at playing football in the NFL...High reward comes with high risk, that's the other side of the deal...you don't get something for nothing. The Jets need offensive linemen, if he was worth a damn they would re-sign him, because to your point..he's low cost..but they saw how badly he practiced/played and didn't even offer a vet minimum deal. Outside of the Bengals is any other teams showing interest in Becton? The answer is no, because he's not a good NFL football player. Could he develop into one? Maybe, but it is highly unlikely he will. Do you want to risk Burrow's health and on the slim chance Becton does a 180 turn in his career and becomes this high-reward player? I don't. The Bengals have backup RT's on the roster, Smith, Carmen, Ford, etc..can all play at the same level as Becton is capable of playing, I just don't see the point of adding him to this roster. The Bengals need starting caliber players and Becton is not that.

  24. A few questions about Becton and Pollack, since that seems to be the connection and the way the Bengals are going to address RT. 1. What player can the Bengals objectively say Frank Pollack has coached up and improved their level of play? 2. What coach doesn't think he can't coach up a player with physical talent, that's a coach's job and their ego makes them believe they can get it done. 3. The Jets offensive line has been awful, why would we take a castoff from a bad offensive line and put him on our offensive line and realistically think he's going to improve the quality of play? Becton will probably sign, but hopefully he's nothing more than a backup to the rookie RT that comes in and starts all 17 games next season.

  26. I think this was likely the plan last offseason when the Bengals/Anarumo came out and admitted they had expected Bell was coming back. I'd suspect it's possible they told Bell this and he scoffed/walked... or of course it could have been money, I never heard either way. Regardless, I'm sure this was the idea last year with a certainty they'd take a strong safety in the draft. Now they can let Bell teach them what that's all about. FWIW I won't be surprised if Lou switches Dax back to outside CB, but if they take a first rounder he might even switch to being the designated heir apparent to Hilton... ? I'm just gratified that what I brought up during the season as our key "loss" on D (secondary communication went to shit/no QB in the back) has been confirmed not just by talking heads but again, Lou himself in his combine interviews. It seemed pretty obvious to me.

  27. Becton sucks, I hope the Bengals don't sign him. He's big but slow and has awful technique. In his best season he allowed seven sacks, one QB hit, and 15 hurries in 387 pass-blocking snaps while committing seven penalties. There are guys on the roster who can give you that type of production, hard pass.

  32. If the Bengals don't sign any CB in free agency, the "Great White Hype" becomes a very real possibility at 18. Which is fantastic, because he's going to be a baller.

  33. Bengals absolutely have to bring in Brown now at RT. Or hell even give me Becton. Need to have some positional flexibility at pick 18.

  37. yep and after he gets paid he'll be one of them crying cause he had to pay 5 mil of his 22 mil and have to live off of a meager 17 mil next year . unlike the rest of us that win by only paying 10k of our 80k income and manage to survive on $70k , so yes get what you can, but for now the bengals possess his playing rights , and they paid 22 mil for that right, so the demands fall on deaf ears here. here's an idea go out, convince a team to give you the contract you want and then trade for the right to sign it, i believe that option is open for Tee and the megadollar agent . so sit do nothing and get nothing or the agent can go earn his pay.
