  1. Only the Stealers could cut a first round pick after all of 24 starts, replace him with a completely washed Russel Wilson (who Denver couldn't wait to dumpster despite owing a ton of money & having no solid starter in his place) only to have some ESPN jackass try to spin that as the two shrewdest QB moves the NFL has seen in years. I suppose it's not quite Deshaun Watson to Cleveland stupid, but WTF? Should someone explain to Mike Greenberg that "shrewdest" doesn't mean "most resembling this thing"? Whenever he gets done huffing Steeler taint, I mean.

  2. Sorry if this was posted already but did anyone see this mock? https://www.profootballnetwork.com/ian-cummings-7-round-2024-nfl-mock-draft-march-16/ Not really worth anyone's time, he has us take THREE offensive lineman and TWO WR's (including a first rounder) but of note: I get a lot of these "experts" have no love or interest in the Bengals, but I always cringe at these high-profile trades they propose that make no sense at all for one of (or both) the teams. Why would the Bengals trade away Tee and a LOT of capital just to move to six and take his replacement (Odunze in this case)? Why would the Giants not just stay put and take Odunze if Higgins is "not a stable long-term asset"? Clearly in this scenario it's way better for the Bengals to either keep Tee or take whatever trade doesn't have them giving up extra picks. Would the Bengals love it if they pick some WR who turns out to be a worthy (or even better?) replacement for Higgins as well as a cheaper long-term asset? Sure. Trading away picks to make that river-boat gamble is pretty dumb IMO but it's also simply not the way the Bengals do business.

  3. Denver spent way too much cash and capital and we're in a bind. They were stuck paying his ridonkulous salary whether he played for them on not, so PIT swooped in to exploit their mistake and got Wilson for nothing. In other words, DEN got drunk and was backed into a corner bathroom stall where PIT took advantage of them. The rape analogy still fits.

  4. Bears should have just held onto Fields as a practice QB for that disrespectful compensation. Have a little dignity Chicago. For fucks sake.

  9. The impression I get is that Pickett is kind of an entitled chode. Thank kind of "I am not competing for a position that should be mine" stuff is locker room cancer.

  11. And fields is a free agent next year so they'll have to pay him or he's gone

  12. Hate the Stealers as much as anyone but I have to say these were 2 good moves. Wilson is probably done but they are paying him nothing and as much as he is a locker room shithead, the Stoolers seem to actually like that. Fields is better than Pickett and I will give the Stoolers credit for realizing what most knew, Pickett was never going to develop. So they cut thier losses. neither of these guys or Burrow or Lamar obviously but they will keep the Stoolers in the mix.

  13. Re: Bechton, my preference is for Tart as well. He’s injury-prone and really hasn’t stood out on the field. OTOH Tart has had some positive moments as a player - but given what happened in Tennessee, he’s not without some red flags that need to be checked out, too.

  14. Sure, and I suppose some really are that. It's when they start talking about how no one in the NFL will be able to cover/block/tackle them etc that you have to worry. John Ross was going to run by everyone, until he got hit & reminded everyone it's a full-contact sport and not a track meet. Like I find myself saying every year around draft time, just about every player in the NFL was Billy Badass in college. Most of them are JAG at the next level.

  17. Oh is Bowers this year's "THE NFL ISN'T READY!!" pre-draft Hall of Fame candidate that's going to score 11 TDs a game & change the sport forever? Narrator voice: "The NFL, as it turns out, was in fact ready."

  18. They've made some good additions but as you point out have yet to address the two biggest roster needs. Fact is this was an average team last year, as their record shows. It's great if people want to hype them up but some of that list was complete nonsense.

  20. PIT gets Justin Fields CHI gets 6th round pick that could become a conditional 4th if he actually plays Even though Jerry Sandusky and Ben Roethlisberger are gone, Pennsylvania is still quite comfortable raping others to get what they want.

  21. Watters had 1850 yrds from scrimmage at age 31. Allen made the pro bowl at 33.

  24. I'm tending to lean toward Patter's thinking that Becton is kind of a risk. I am tired of the Bengals taking underachievers with potential and ending up with an under achiever. Somewhere is the number of penalties and sacks he gave up... No thanks. He reminds me of a higher profile Jackson Carman. Should be somewhere there in the draft. Fart.. would like to have him here but if he is a player and trying to jack up his price here or elsewhere... yeah, I'd still take him and you can't blame him but...

  25. Naw, DJ is class. I'm gonna miss him. It's the business side, he didn't go to a competitor he even left the conference. I hope he gets to another Superbowl, and loses to us. lol

  26. Based on what? Hes never been a lead back for a NFL team and will probably be the 3rd down back here...he might be a better pass blocker but that remains to be seen because it's one thing blocking in AFC South but when you have to block against Watt, Garrett, and the Ravens defense it's a different story. I think we downgraded our RB room and we still need a big back to add to the mix. I feel like they are trying to be like the Chiefs, but in AFC North you need to be able to run the ball. The division is very physical and you need a big back that get tough yards and right now I don't see that guy on the roster. The Browns have Chubb, the Ravens just signed Henry, the Stealers have Harris..we have??? In my opinion, the Bengals need another lead back that move the pile and get some tough yards.

  28. Later this year will be the 50th anniversary of my enlisting in the US Navy. Vietnam was mostly over, but still a thing. There has always been tension in my thoughts about how the Navy was pretty good to me, but how that personal goodness came wrapped in a veil of evil. Our foreign policy then, and now, and every goddamned day in between makes me ashamed to be a citizen. I've tried to kick in my two bits worth of decency over the years, but that hasn't amounted to any more than spit in a rainstorm. In my lifetime, the US has consistently ratcheted itself downward and we passed the point of no return some time ago. It's a multi-polar world now, and piling up the bodies--as the US is so prone to do--won't save us in the final outcome, as much as those mental midgets we call leaders think it might do.
