I would genuinely like to see a link to some sort of source or report that last years deal was intimated as a bridge to a long term deal because I haven't seen that anywhere. From what I see, he was coming off a bit of a down year with only 8 sacks, the FO gave him a $15M extension which is more than generous for that type of year, and he's mad that he signed it after now having a career year. Nobody has said anything about the Bengals going back on a verbal deal, including Trey. He signed an extension and then had a career year so thinks it should get him another raise. But the team can't give every player a yearly raise who outperforms their contract, especially with a salary cap. He made the wrong bet on himself by accepting too little and now wants a mulligan. Here's another fun stat: the last time the Bengals weren't top 5 in pass attempt % they went to the Super Bowl. As I've said before a few times myself, he's been expected to hard-carry the offense with a plodder of a RB whose biggest contribution to the team was smiles. We'll see how they call games without him.

Versatility. Played FB at times. He is a huge cog in making the offense go. If you look at blocking TE's like Josh Oliver etc. I think he probably had a market and wanted to stay here. That deal is really just 3M per year not to have to replace our Blockig Te, That's not bad at all.

IMO just seems like a position can CANNOT be weak at, so letting Dax learn is gonna ahve to come in blowouts and spot work, i can specifically remember 2-3 games where we needed one stop to get the ball back with a chance and gave up the play due to a CB or Safety shitting the bed (mainly cheeto) so the depth is great in case on injury and the talent boost is great. sucks for Dax's career trajectory, but we need to get a ring ASAP, so no hard feelings but no time for that right now.

Charlie needs to get stronger, that’s for sure. And I remember the one long pass when he hesitated at the end of the route and that was disappointing. But remember, TB didn’t knock it out of the park starting out… really, his third year was when he broke out… and the crew that he was part of wasn’t as good with Jerome Simpson et al as the one Jones was brought into. To be clear there are absolutely things I do not like. Investment groups should not be allowed to buy homes, that is a HUGE part of the problem with the cost of housing, not to mention we need to be building more houses to drive prices down. It has been shown that 50% if the inflation numbers are coming from what is basically "greedflation" or corporations price gouging, Biden has done nothing to address that.

Don't see that being the case and not because of this move. They had to punt like half of their defense off the roster just to get cap compliant and currently only have $4M of cap space this year and $6M next year. $55M of dead cap this year, with Diggs bein $31M of it. They don't even have a 3rd round pick in this draft either so no capital to move up in the 1st round. I seem to recall Beane saying he'd never want to be in a position to draft a Ja'Marr Chase because that means you'd have to go through some lean years. Seems like the tax man has come to collect on that receipt, if he doesn't get fired first.
