Bo Scaife has visits lined up with the Bengals and Rams, per league source.

he made some paper's all free agent team but he could be past his prime. he's 30. i read where he's the only TE to rush for a touchdown and catch one and return a kickoff and make a tackle in the same season. hey he's versatile! lol. could be a hard sign tho cuz i think drew rosenhaus is his agent.

Maybe, but I don't recall the Bengals having many problems with Drew (believe it or not).

he'd be a nice addition to the TE corp.

Saw a report where Coffman was bigger and catching the vall really well - looking very good in camp. while Cochart (the UDFA from SD St) has looked good both catching and blocking (especially blocking). Haven't heard anything about Mills. I wouldn't mind bringing Sciafe in for depyh competition, but would rather add a stronger blocker. Have they finally cut the cord with Reggie?

Mills is in a walking boot.

Reggie sounds like they have had talks, but he's a last resort kind of thing.

Yeah, Scaife would make a nice addition to the Bengals TE rotation. He WAS the entire Titans recieving corps all by himself for several years here in Nashville.
They put the Franchise Tag on him two or three years back. Decent blocker as well and has shown a nose for the end zone. I actually knew his GF for a minute. Not sure if she is still with him. I recall she said they were friends with Dhani -as if that mattered at all now.

In other Tight End news, the Bengals claimed John Nalbone off waivers from the Eagles. He was originally a 5th round pick by the Dolphins in 2009.

Nalbone was well thought of coming out of college in 2009. But it hasn't happened for him yet. Just by his measurables, skill set, and small college background, he seems a LOT like Colin Cochart. If nothing else, the bengals need more TE bodies to get through camp.

good signing. Not shocked. The Bengals only seem to bring in guys they're serious about. As long as there's no complications, they make the guy an offer.

Position groups I feel good about
WR, TE, DT (though its not as if we couldnt do better but not with whats out there), with Andre in dropping the weight OT, CB (but Clements still isnt as good as Jo Jo), K, P, RB (though this has a minus on it till I see Ced's pass catching get better)

Position groups that I'm indifferent to (meaning one good player one "'eh" player)
DE, S (if this was a grade it would have a minus on it), C

Position groups that concern me
OG, QB, FB, LB

Going into training camp, we considered the Bengals tight end group to be one of the more solid position groups. However, they added some more experience on Friday, signing Bo Scaife to a one-year deal. According to Pro Football Talk, it is for $1 million.

Scaife, who will be entering his seventh season, has 251 receptions for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns. He played his previous six years with Tennessee. He is a big, athletic target who can stretch the field, much like Jermaine Gresham but older.

Last season Scaife appeared in 14 games with 13 starts and finished fourth on the team with 36 receptions for 318 yards with four touchdowns.

Nice, a well-rounded TE.

I think its pretty obvious with the amount of TEs we're bringing into camp that we will see a lot of two TE sets. Gresh and Scaife, Gresh and Coffman, Scaife and Coffman...i feel good about any combo of those guys.

Good signing!

Scaife, a seven-year veteran, will serve as the backup to 2010 first-round pick Jermaine Gresham.

Scaife had a productive career for the Tennessee Titans. From 2005-2010, he averaged 41.9 receptions per season. Scaife caught 36 passes for 318 yards last year.
