The Pro Bowl was supposed to be harmless and something close to fun, but Bengals tight endTyler Eifert apparently suffered an injury.

Per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Eifert left Aloha Stadium in a walking boot. ESPN cameras had caught trainers talking to Eifert on the sideline and putting a protective wrap on his foot.

Hobson tweeted that Eifert said he jammed his heel and will need a scan to make sure nothing is broken.

Eifert caught one pass for 11 yards in his first Pro Bowl, which wasn’t much of a game. He caught 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2015, a year after he was held to one game by an elbow injury.

Eifert hopeful after initial test

HONOLULU _ The initial examination of Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert’s foot didn’t reveal a break Sunday night after the Pro Bowl. But he left Aloha Stadium in a boot and plans to  undergo further tests in Cincinnati to make sure he’s got only a bone bruise.

It’s believed he’ll see Bengals foot specialist James Amis when he gets back in town early this week.

“I don’t really know what happened. I jammed my heel. I’ll be good,” said Eifert in the Team Irvin locker room after a 49-27 win over Team Rice that was a bit hollow for the seven Bengals involved.

“I’m praying for Tyler,” said running back Cedric Peerman, the only Bengal on Team Rice.

Eifert went down the seam early in the fourth quarter and almost had a 35-yard TD catch from quarterback Jameis Winston, but he couldn’t hold on to the ball as he went to the ground in the back of the end zone.

Eifert got up gimpy and went to the bench, where they wrapped it in an ace bandage and put ice on it. With two minutes left in the game he was helped to the locker room as he limped to the X-Ray machine.

On the play before, Eifert made his first Pro Bowl catch, an 11-yarder over the middle.

Wasn't Whitworth on Rice's team?  Coulda swore he was.

(this is why I hate the new format; I don't like players from the same team on opposite sides.)

Peerman was on Team Rice...all the other Bengals (Eifert, Green, Adam, Whit, Dunlap, Atkins) were on Team Irving.

It was weird seeing players from the same team battling eachother...fortunately with Peerman mostly just playing special teams except at the very end, it didn't happen much with us.

At least they're based on something.  I'll take that over "We gave this guy a +9 grade because reasons."

For all the complaining that people do about PFF, they were just retained to do evaluations of the Senior bowl players and every NFL team uses their analysis and data.....this doesn't happen unless NFL people validate what they're doing and how they're doing it.

They probably read their horoscopes, too.  Wanting all the information they can get doesn't necessarily validate the source.

The Pro Bowl has been irrelevant for years, but when they eliminated the conference affiliations in favor of this playground pickup game, it completely jumped the shark. Just end it already.  The 1,500 people who watch it won't miss it.

If you don't like it, don't watch.  But more people watched it on Espn than watched the overhyped Grease Live on Fox.  And 4 times more than the NHL All Star game.

EIFERT GOOD TO GO:

The Bengals got good news Tuesday on tight end Tyler Eifert less than 48 hours after he left his first Pro Bowl in a walking boot.

After being examined by Bengals foot specialist Jim Amis, the club said he suffered only a sprained foot and after proper rest it won’t cause him to miss any off-season activities.

Eifert said he jammed his heel early in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Pro Bowl in Honolulu on a pass down the seam he nearly corralled for a 35-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Jameis Winston, but saw the ball squirt out of his hands as he went to the ground.

On the previous play he made his first Pro Bowl catch, an 11-yarder over the middle.

I don't, thanks.  Enough people watch the Kardashians to keep that on TV, as well, so a certain viewership threshold doesn't necessarily confirm that something is good television, or even a good idea.

Lol @ the NHL All-Star Game. This game is such an absolute farce...they had one in my own home town a year ago, and I was never tempted to attend. And I love hockey. But a 60-minute skate-around at 1/4 speed with a thousand goals scored on goalies who barely move, is not worth a dime.
