He did have a chance.

He didn't see the field well as was prone to holding the ball too long then running it.

He's a helluva runner but his fumbles hurt the team.

Off to a new start

Like the kid but hope he fails in Shit City

Fields first season was with lame duck Nagy as coach. He was on the hot seat and played Andy Dalton ahead of his rookie QB. Season 2 had a new coach but a defensive one who hired a poor OC and didn't upgrade their O-line or weapons. So Fields scrambled a lot and nearly broke Lamar's QB rushing record.  Season 3 they brought in a legit receiver and used a first round pick on the O-line but still had a bottom 3 center constantly giving up pressure up the middle. This time they are going to draft a QB, probably Caleb Williams and added another couple of weapons in Allen and Swift and swapped out their center. Maybe he'll have a chance with their new OC but the coach is on the hot seat again.

Eh, it's closer than you might think. Lawrence has higher volume numbers but for efficiency, Fields is in the neighborhood as a passer and a much better runner (though Lawrence is better than you might guess). In Lawrence's big year of 2022, his ESPN QBR was slightly lower than Fields (who ran for 1100 yards that year and got an MVP vote). Lawrence has a better NFL passer rating but not by a lot. Their PFR approximate value scores are equal.

Lawrence is a big upgrade for Jacksonville compared to what they had before him. So they regard him as their franchise QB and aren't looking for his replacement yet. If Chicago had Carolina's 2nd round this year and first next year instead of vice versa, they wouldn't be looking to replace Fields. They would give him a couple more weapons and a decent center so he has a chance.

In draft hypeland, Lawrence was a "generational" prospect. Fields had a college career that compares favorably with Caleb Williams.

In Lawrence’s defense, his first year under Meyer was about as dysfunctional a season as anyone could have imagined.

Both QBs went to trash organizations.

Yes and Lawrence isn't the question mark Fields is.

I agree with this.  Fields is a textbook example of how not to develop a QB.  The organization failed him from the beginning by giving him no weapons and a coaching change between years 1-2.  I don’t want him to succeed in Pittsburgh or anywhere in the AFC, but otherwise I hope he gets a chance.

A pic of the new Texans uniforms leaked and they are hideous XFL looking bullshit of course. Same stupid FUBU numbers as Atlanta. Full reveal coming in April.

Yeah they look weak.

Surprised they found this look even remotely attractive to the fans.

Nike and Oregon destroyed uniform class. The NFL has at least tried to hold it back somewhat, but I fear it’s only a matter of time (and money) before they become like the NBA and allow 57 uniform combinations

Eh, I don't have a problem with teams having multiple uniform combos. Sort of like how EPL teams have several different combos for road games where their primary uni would conflict with the home team.

That is a good point. There is a 3-kit limit (home/away/third), but teams change the combo every year.

I just don't get this one, AT ALL. The current trend is (thankfully) toward brighter colors, and this is going the opposite direction, eliminating the red numbers. Royal blue with generous amounts of red would have worked so much better. Glad I'm not a Texans fan.

^ Chiefs giving away Sneed for a 3rd Rd pick next year is absurd

This is where it benefits the Bengals to have Mike Brown who drives a hard bargain and doesn't fold so easily.

That also means the Bengals miss trade opportunities such as last year when Vegas, Atlanta, and Tennessee all wanted to trade into the end of round 1 to take Levis. We could have taken advantage of that but instead Arizona got to do that.

Staying put was the right call. The wrong call was in who they drafted (Murphy).

If they just took Sam Laporta instead, who they liked and wanted but felt was too high, then they look like geniuses. But they didn't trust their own scouting for some reason.

Don't give up on Myles Murphy to quickly.

He played well as a rook and will see more time now with the experience from it.
