May as well open at Buffalo. We're gonna lose Week 1 regardless of who we play, so better to use it on one of our toughest match-ups.

That's the spirit mate..🍻..

It will take me a while to shake off the cynicism that comes from our knack for throwing away games to start the season.

But apparently, not enough.

A little OT…my sig line (if visible) comes from a post-game presser by Sam after a particularly rough loss against the Real Browns in 1991 (I recall it being after the following week’s home loss against Washington..but online they refer to Cleveland).

“The NFL isn’t worth it. This game isn’t worth it…golf to be played..tennis to be served up..”

That was, to me anyway, the greatest post-game presser, by any coach, any time. Sam spoke the entire time—not giving a breath to any of the media. It was absolutely brilliant.

The Enquirer printed the complete remarks back then. I had the newspaper cutout saved for posterity, but haven’t been able to locate it for many years. I find bits and pieces of it online, but not the entire thing.

You, being an archiver, may not only recall—but also be able to locate this? September of 1991.

I found this. It has some of the additional comments.

Yeah, I saw that one. The commentary in the second part of the article came after the original presser—and I remember these also.

In the original, he was laying waste to the local Cincinnati media—especially the Post and that negative Nelly writer whose name escapes me. That it was directed at them so pointedly, still makes me believe it was the post-Washington game…which was at home. The Cleveland game was up there.

Anyway, thanks for the input.

I'll see if I can find it.
