No. Here's what will happen:

He'll fuck around wasting his potential. Flash a small portion of his talent and fans will see the next Randy Moss. Then do something stupid like not return a rental car and we will all become legal experts as it plays out debating his future with the club.

Wake me up if the guy ever catches a 1,000 yards.

Marvin's jump the shark moment just happened.

This is a terrible PR move that is going to put the Bengals in a very negative light nationally. With that being said this league is all about talent and winning. Henry is a talented freak that no opposing defense looks forward to playing. If you don't mind the team getting a ton of negative publicity then its a solid move.

There may be many criminals running rampant around the NFL.

In order to have a full league, there may have to be.

BUT...on a team and during a season in which Marvin was throwing the gauntlet to take a stand against stupidity....bad move. I bet Henry gets into trouble again.

That said, I bet there are lots of pretty little clauses that protect the Bengals if he does.

Couldn't agree more...I think it's the beginning of the end for Lewis and if the signing goes through he will have lost this team. Doubt it all you want but just watch their play out on the field in the first few weeks and then tell me I'm wrong.

And probably before the season is over.

It will be funny to see how many of the people who support this move will be upset when the "Bengals are thugs" articles, or arrest jokes atart again.

I'm not so sure this is a Marvin Lewis decision. I'm willing to bet Mike was the driving force and Marvin went along reluctantly. And I won't be at all surprised if Marvin leaves after his current contract is up.

Dumb move. The guy was talented when the whole of our offense was underated. Back when we had a top 4 OL (with Braham), a great run game, Carson Palmer took teams by surprise and our combo of Cj and TJ were confusing the hell out of secondaries with precise timing routes. During all that Chris was able to go under the radar and catch some long balls...ala Ashley Lelie.

Since then our OL has been injury riddled and inconsistant, the run game has deteriorated like an AIDS patient in his final weeks, Carson doesn't take any team by surprise and every DEF knows to play a physical cover two to keep CJ and TJ under wraps...but don't worry I'm sure Henry will stay out of trouble just long enough to catch a bomb on blown coverage to get everyone's hopes up before he gets shit-faced that night and inexplicably defecates on the front steps of city hall, prompting his arrest and subsequent release from the team.

Alligator arms, no heart, bad footwork near the sidelines, and unreliable on 3rd down...Mmm mm mmm just what the doctor ordered. <_<

This topic is pretty tired.

Currently, the poll stands at 50/50. It's apparent that this board is split in terms of this decision.

While it makes for an iteresting debate... I am surprised that half of you guys are that wrong. Obviously this is a terrible move for the Bengals.

I'm not convinced he's going to help us win.

I think it's a dumb move...not from a talent standpoint, obviously. And not from a contractual standpoint, since like mentioned before, the Bengals are probably massively protected via paperwork. But the ability to show the players who is in charge and who means business just flew out the window. Good leaders don't contradict themselves, and Marvin did just that. And I agree with Jason in that Mikey may have been the puppetmaster behind this, but the players are going to look at their coach and think , "WTF". I know I am.

With that said, from a talent standpoint, Im glad he'll be available at least for a little while. 1/2 :ninja:

I voted yes. Only because "Hell fucking yes" wasn't an option.

I think JT said it best in regards to Henry . . .
"If he's going to play for anybody in the league, why not here?" Thornton asked. "The Bengals took a lot of crap for him. Why let him go somewhere else, and he goes plays for Dallas and he becomes a superstar? He knows this offense.

"If he screws up, he's done. It's a one-strike policy. If everybody is comfortable, if the NFL is comfortable with it ... in my opinion, as a friend and a player, I think the locker room would light up just to see him back because everybody's been reading about how tough it's been with him with foreclosures and all that."
I cant believe the number of boy scouts we have on this board.

I dont care I want to win, if having Henry helps us do that then as long as he stays on the field I dont care what he does off of it.

there's a difference between giving a guy a second chance, and giving a 6th chance to a guy who has repeatedly shown in the past that he can't stay out of trouble. It's not about being a boy scout, its about sayi ng "when is enough, enough?"

I can't believe the number of Marvin Lewis worshipers on this board who support something he doesn't want.

enough is enough when he isnt a good player anymore, enough is enough when he doesnt contribute to helping us win football games when the other WRs we have have become question marks

I dont care about what message it sends or the PR or the Leno jokes, I want to win football games.
