Totally have to disagree. I kinda get the impression that you are not a Notre Dame fan. As it has already be mentioned, money-wise, how could you -not- pass up an opportunity like this? And, prestige-wise, a job like this only opens up maybe twice a career, and your resume has to be good enough to be in sync with the opportunity to secure such a job.

No I am not a Notre Dame fan, at all.

And money is all Notre Dame can offer Kelly.
If Kelly goes to Notre Dame, he will have a lot of pressure to go with that money.
If he stays at UC, he is a God that can call all the shots and probably have shit
named after him.

He can win a National Title at UC. He isn't restrained by the academic requirements
that Notre Dame has and he wouldn't have anywhere near the pressure. Again,
all Notre Dame has to offer is more money.

ND has more money to offer, more notoriety, a better chance at a National Title game. If Notre Dame was undefeated this year and Texas missed that FG. There would be no question that it would be ND vs Alabama. They're going to get the nod over TCU, UC and Boise. What would make it harder for him to get a National Title Shot at ND would be the schedule and teams traditionally gunning for them. If UC had ND's schedule, they wouldn't be 12-0. Especially with that D. They're a big fish in a little pond. I'm a ND fan and UC fan. I personally would like Kelly to stay at UC and for ND to get another good coach. But if Kelly stays here, there's a good chance another big conference school will come calling next year. Most Big East coaching jobs will be stepping stones until the Big East transforms into a football conference force. It's been building for a few years, but it's not there yet to the point that their schools will be considered as equals in BCS talks.

Maybe Tennessee could just let Notre Dame have Lane Kiffin. I hear he's a hell of a recruiter, and a much, much more honorable and trustworthy coach than say, a dirtbag like John Calipari.

They can have him... :noninja:

Granted, everything, to date, has been secondary violations... nothing quite on par with Calipari... :sport27:

Yeah, I can see how UC would struggle against powerhouses such as Navy, Purdue, Michigan, Washington, and Washington State. ND lost to Connecticut and Pitt, both of whom UC beat. ND played 2 teams that finished the season ranked. UC played 3.

Maybe ND should hire Kelly and Kiffin could come here to UC. That way I would have a shot with his wife.

Hell no!!!
K, ...why?

The reason I ask is because all I know about Weis is what I've seen from ND and quite honestly, ...its not all his fault.

So, I'm having a hard time judging his true talent, ...if any.

Btw, ...I like Kerry Coombs as a candidate as well and he's a local guy (more likely to stick around).

Report: Kelly to be named next Irish coach
Posted by John Taylor on December 10, 2009 5:08 PM ET

According to a report from the South Bend Tribune, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a new coach.

And his name is -- surprise!!! -- Brian Kelly.

Citing two university sources familiar with the search process, the paper reports that Kelly will be named as Charlie Weis' successor in South Bend.

It's expected that Kelly will meet with his players ahead of the Bearcats' award banquet tonight to inform them of his decision.

No further details, such as when the official announcement will come or when a press conference will be held, are available at this time.

Notre Dame only gets At Large Bids to the BCS. Cincy gets an Automatic Bid.

Notre Dame's noteriety comes from their past, not their future.

I hope Kelly falls on his face.
Fuck him.

10-2 at Notre Dame goes to a BCS. 11-1 at Cincy does not. He gets more money at notre dame. Winning there is bigger than winning anywhere.

If that 11-1 UC team won the Big East, they would AUTOMATICALLY go to the BCS.

And losing there is bigger than losing anywhere. It goes both ways you know?

You dont get the point, its easier for him to go to a BCS bowl at Notre Dame. Other than loyalty, which he obviously doesnt care about. Why would he stay at UC? Notre Dame can pay him more, has a bigger stadium, easier for him to recruit, loved by the polls. You know if Notre Dame finishes in the top 10 of the BCS they basically get an AUTOMATIC bid. You make it seem like he took a step down.

No it isn't easier for him to go to a BCS bowl.
it is more pressure, and they have higher academic standards.

If any team finishes in the top 10 they go to a BCS bowl.

I have already stated my opinion. To me it is a step down,
all except money. Kelly could have had it all at UC, minus the pressure.
UC was giving him everything he wanted, and was giving him more and
more money. He could have been UC's Bobbie Bowden or Joe Paterno.
Instead he is more than likely just another overpaid fat fuck that will
be fired in 5 years.

Forget bcs bowls, if cincy doesnt win the big east, they get stuck in a bad bowl because the big east has poor bowl tie ins and cincys fan base isnt as large as the bigger bowls prefer. If UC wouldve lost to pitt they wouldve gone to the Meinke car care bowl, even though they are 11-1. If ND goes 11-1 or even 10-2, they go to a BCS. If they lose 4 games they still get an upper tier bowl game. The only reason for him to stay at uc was if he wanted to be a legend at that school.

If my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle.

The only reason Notre Dame gets that shit is because of their following.
And them being over rated.

And if they lose 4 games their coach is on the hot seat.

Also, him being a Legend would require him to keep winning and going
to BCS Bowls. He could have done that at UC.

Obviously you are a Notre Dame fan. I am not. Never was, never will be.
And like I said, this just makes it easier to root against them.

This is the fault of Nebraska's useless kickoff 'specialist.' That idiot does his job...Texas loses, UC plays for the title...There's no way Kelly leaves UC before the national title game...Notre Dame can't wait another month for a possible hire...they hire some piece of crap like Randy Edsall...I laugh.

Screw that guy.
