Not a desperate need.....but I do remember late last season after Peko had knee surgery, Pat Sims broke his arm and Tank was banged up we were relying on Orien Harris and the Hamburglar......

very true. Like I said, it's not a bad pick, but I would have liked to have seen a DB or OG there. Or Ricky Sapp. Really surprised he's still there.

wonder if there's an injury we don't know about with him.

gotta cut him first. I'd sign him for a $3-4 million deal.

Just saw a runner at the bottom of ESPN's screen that said the Jets released him.

Dude did 34 reps and ran a 40 time almost as fast and Gresham.

03/16/10 - Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno may not be taking the field this year for Georgia’s annual Pro Day, but NFL scouts will still line the practice fields Tuesday to watch a number of former Bulldogs perform a variety of agility and athleticism tests in preparation for the NFL Draft in late April. Georgia’s two former starting defensive tackles Geno Atkins and Jeff Owens look to continue their ascent up draft boards, and could even edge their way into the first round with another impressive performance at Pro Day. Atkins had been criticized for his lack of ideal size for defensive tackle at 6-foot-1, 293 pounds. But Atkins silenced those critics with his blend of speed and strength. The defensive prospect posted a 4.74 40-yard dash and 33 reps of 225 and proved that he has potential to play defensive end in a 3-4 defensive scheme in the NFL. Owens blew away scouts with his incredible strength, posting 44 reps of 225 pounds — the second highest total of anyone at the NFL combine and only one rep shy of the all-time record at the combine. Atkins’ and Owens’ numbers may have surprised pro scouts, but they weren’t any surprise to Georgia’s Director of Strength and Condition — Dave Van Halanger — who said Owens benched 545 pounds at Georgia and called Atkins “the most explosive lineman” he’s ever coached. - Nick Parker, RedandBlack.com

02/11/10 - PRO POTENTIAL: DT Geno Atkins recorded one sack in the Senior Bowl and will attend the NFL Combine in Indianapolis later this month. His quickness up the middle against Idaho offensive guard Mike Iupati, the top-ranked guard at the Senior Bowl, impressed some NFL scouts. The 6-2, 286-pound Atkins is projected as a fifth-round pick.
01/31/10 - SENIOR BOWL GAMER: DT Geno Atkins, Georgia: Atkins' burst off the snap disrupted offensive linemen throughout the week of practice. Some observers projected a tough Saturday for Atkins based on his matchup with Idaho offensive guard Mike Iupati, the top-ranked guard in Mobile this week. Atkins' burst and agility was too much for Iupati. Atkins recorded a sack of Oregon State quarterback Sean Canfield in the second quarter. - Rob Rang, The Sports Xchange, NFLDraftScout.com

Atkins has the quickest first step of all the lineman. Love the pick, Big time player from big time program. Thats all our draft picks but Ghee, who i think is to soft. And Atkins owned Iupati during the game and one on one drill, im going to watch the senior bowl again and watch my boy Atkins dominate again

seriously, do the Ravens have some secret defensive back no one knows about? they have fabian washington coming off a serious knee injury, and crap after that.

i know they were very high on last year's 3 round pick ladarious webb, who played well for them before going out with an acl injury late in the year. not sure of where his progress is from the injury, but you'd have to think he would be iffy at best to start next year.

Atkins as a player is not a bad pick.

However the needs at SLB, FB, OL, S, QB are all more. It comes down to where can a guy fit on the roster and where do we need depth. I don't think DT is a position where we need depth. (With that in mind we did have to add guys like Harris and Smith so maybe I am wrong.)

Maybe I'm just imagining this, but it seems like there are a ton more trades happening this year.

They probably are easier to set up with a night to think em over. The extra day lets you fix on 'your guy'

3 dudes that are dropping at spots we have already picked but it might make sense to add one

WR Riley Cooper
TE Anthony McCoy
CB Parrish Cox
[/quote]

I would love to have all of those guys....

Would also like to have the other TE from Oklahoma(Bobby Eldridge) as a blocking TE if we can get him later...
