What some Disappointed Romney voters are saying

T-Dub, breaching the sovereignty of another nation is not righteous when the underlying reason is to fix a problem in their country. Harboring criminals is something that is supposed to be resolved through diplomacy, not military actions. Bombing and killing people in their country, just in order to goad the country into taking actions of their own will work, but not to the results you'll like. If enough countries continue to poke the bear, eventually that bear is going to use their nuclear weapon, and more than likely it won't be the U.S. who uses there's first, so who loses in that situation? We all do.

So are you saying that terrorism is a law enforcement issue?

I didn't realize how deep the brainwashing has gone. Faux noise and the right wing radio machine have just turned these people into slobbering imbeciles. They saw the numbers, they saw the lies, they saw the truth, but the propaganda and hype machine told them to just disregard it, AND THEY DID!! Wow.

Briefly:

--GITMO Detention center still open;
--US Citizens can be unlawfully detained under military jurisdiction;
--drone attacks which violate national soveriegnty, also lots of covert military action doing same;
--has actually assassinated at least one US citizen, authority claimed by Obama (via Holder)

This stuff is not in the headlines so much anymore, but it's worth reviewing and comparing the Bush record and the Obama record on national security to see where he has backed-off Bush policy and where he has accepted and deepened it.

I agree with you about the suspension of habeas corpus. I'm not sure he should be put in jail for it as it has been done before in "times of war". I'm not defending it. Habeas corpus is no mere inconvenient gizmo to be thrust aside when it becomes cumbersome. It's one of the key underpinnings of a free society. I was infuriated and ashamed when he did that.. The other things on the list I think are a bit less black and white.

I thought I had read the Obama did in fact order Gitmo shut down, but Congress over turned the ruling upon the insistence of US prisons who refused to take the prisoners? Thus the only options were keep it open or let everyone go free. Again that's only what I had heard, and if its close to the truth it does make for a nice little spot between a rock and hard place.

It's not terrorism when there is yet to be an imminent danger. Do you feel threatened by a man sitting in a mud hut thousands of miles away, who says all American's should die? He should more threatened by you sitting in your house, thousands of miles away from him, telling your government that anyone who doesn't like America should die. I love my country, but flying into someone else's country and taking care of what you think is "their" problem for them is not a valid argument, it's an act of war. Even more so when random car bombs and explosions are taking out key targets in the area. The United States is supposed to be above fighting a "dirty war."

Am I happy for seeing him dead? Yes. Was it right to infringe on the sovereignty of another nation in order to kill him, when the U.S. could have kept an eye on the compound while they called the leader of Pakistan and tried to work something out? Pakistan used to actually work with the United States, but acts like the same one that killed Bin Laden, has helped to turn them and many other countries against us. When the United states and NATO call for embargoes on foreign countries for transgressions against neighboring sovereignty, yet the U.S. turns around and does the same thing and gets off scott-free, that's going to leave a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. You can't chant diplomacy over and over, while wearing the gear of a warmonger, it's just going to sink you deeper into a hole of hatred across the world. We wouldn't even be in the place we are today, if we acted more like some of the other countries and only stepped in when NATO said we should.

Just think about that the next time you hit your child for hitting someone else.

What a Disappointed Romney is saying ... God Lord. I can't believe some people are UPSET this D-Bag didn't get elected.

Audio Leaks Of Mitt Romney's 'Gifts' Comments, And Somehow They're Even Worse Than What Was Reported

Mitt Romney has taken quite a bit of heat over his comment to donors Wednesday that President Barack Obama won the election because he gave "gifts" to minorities, young voters and women.

Audio of Romney's comments leaked to ABC today, and the full context of Romney's comments will probably not help stave off the criticism.
In one excerpt, he advises future Democrats running to offer "free dental care" as part of the Affordable Care Act:

"It's a proven political strategy, which is give a bunch of money to a group and, guess what, they'll vote for you. What I would do if I were a Democrat running four years from now — I'd say dental care ought to be included in Obamacare."

On the "gifts" to Latino voters, Romney pointed to what he called a "Dream Act Amnesty program," which was his name for the Obama administration's shift in immigration policy earlier this year. He also pointed, again, to Obamacare:

"What the president did is he gave them two things. One, he gave them a big gift on immigration with the DREAM Act amnesty program, which was obviously very very popular with Hispanic voters, and then number two was Obamacare ... For a home earning — let's say $30,000 a year — free health care, which is worth about $10,000 a year, I mean it's massive, it's huge. So this — he did two very popular things for the Hispanic community."

He also said he could have had a chance to win if not for Superstorm Sandy. And he said a surprising name — former President Bill Clinton — called him to say that, too.

"I spoke with President Clinton the day before yesterday. He called and spent 30 minutes chatting with me. He said, 'A week out, I thought you were going to win.' And he said, 'But the hurricane happened, and it gave the president a chance to be presidential, and to look bipartisan. And you know, he got a little more momentum.' And of course he also said that when he was watching Ann speak at the Republican convention, he decided he was tempted to join the Republican Party. So he may have just been effusive with generous comments as he chatted. He was very complimentary, by the way, of how well we did with middle-class voters, and he said they were surprised by how strong we were in Ohio and in other states with middle-class voters, they did exceptionally well with minorities, but white, middle-class voters, we really cleaned up with and that caught them by surprise."

what a shock... a president that does things for the people gets re-elected by those people. It's too bad the 1% Romney caters to only get 1% of the vote.

Disagree with you here. I will respect the sovereignty of Pakistan when they demonstrate that they have such a thing. "Administered tribal areas" are not a nation. There is no question in my mind that they knowingly provided a safe haven for bin Laden & continue to support al-Qaeda, covertly through the ISI as well as by their own inaction. If that is due to inability, well.. we are able. If that is due to unwillingness, that makes them complicit.

I assume you mean al-Awlaki? I think becoming a high-ranking member of a global terrorist organization with the expressed intent of destroying this country effectively negates one's claim to the protections afforded its citizens. Do you think Yemen was going to allow us to go in and serve a warrant?
I agree with both of these things. Civilian deaths from drone strikes are regrettable, but I blame Pakistan for those. If Pakistan had a modicum of control of control over it's border areas they would or should have gone in there and cleaned house of these radicals a long time ago and we wouldn't have to be doing it. If a group of militant Christians were holed up in a compund in the mountains of West Virginia after committing a terrorist act against the USA, I'd expect our government to do the same and not spare a single one of them.

Chris Christie Disagrees With Mitt Romney's 'Gifts' Comment

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/16/chris-christie-gifts_n_2143609.html

(For some reason its not letting me link the text at work so...)

I think Christie is positioning himself for a 2016 run...

Wouldn't vote for him though after how he treated the unions in his state.
