I can't believe they gave Homer 100 million.  How effing shortsighted was that?  Baffles me every time I see Johnny go out there and throw gem after gem.  Going to miss that guy.

Considering it definitely cost us Cueto and probably Latos, that contract has to be the worst in Reds history.

Give Bailey $100M when you know your 2 aces are coming up... Beyond stupid.

Walt knew no matter what they couldn't afford Cueto so he overpaid Bailey to keep 1 of the starters. Homer has all the potential but between injuries and mental lapses he hasn't reached it on a consistent basis. He's more talented than Cueto but Cueto is far more polished and consistent.

There wasn't a single human being in that front office or clubhouse that wanted Latos around. They hated him and that was even more evident once he was dealt. The guy was just a real POS ass. Plus Descalfania is going to be much better than him.

A deal in which the Royals were set to acquire Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto for prospects fell through Saturday night, according to Fox’s Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal reported that one of the Royals’ prospects in the proposed deal wasn’t cleared medically, which sidetracked the potential acquisition by the Royals of a front-end starter and certain upgrade to the rotation.

Before the game, another Reds starter, Michael Lorenzen, went to warm up and told Cueto he was being traded, according to MLB.com Reds beat writer Mark Sheldon.

Cueto reportedly wasn’t thrilled with the way he found out about the near trade, but he didn’t let that affect his performance.

Instead, Cueto went out and tossed eight shutout innings at Colorado on Saturday night. Cueto scatteredg four hits and a walk with five strikeouts at Colorado. He is 7-6 with a 2.62 ERA in 19 starts this season.

It’s unclear what Royals prospects might have been involved in the deal.
