Don't come over here but this ended up in my e mail (spam folder) and I thought I

would share.  Neutral, no opinion just FYI and don't shoot the messenger.

Did not want to put on the Bengals board...

"My name is Wallace Gilberry.

Wallace + Great Granny

I cut my teeth on the gridiron in Tuscaloosa.

I played for Mike Shula & Nick Saban, then made it 9 seasons in the NFL.

Football – along with my mom and great-grandmother – taught me everything I know, like:

1) Bring glory to God on and off the field

2) Play through the whistle

3) Always stand to honor those who keep us free

My name is Wallace Gilberry. If you’ve never heard of me, that’s OK – here’s what you should know:

I’m a Black man in America who is familiar with the struggles of our community. But I’m also a Republican who voted for Trump. And I’m running in the single most competitive House race in the entire country.

I’m running against more than a DOZEN far-left Democrats with an army of mega-donors backing them.

I’ve never run for office. They have. I’ve never even sent an email like this before.

But I was raised by a single mom who worked 2 jobs to put food on the table for her 5 kids – being an underdog is nothing new to me or my family.

So – with grit and determination in my heart – I’m respectfully asking you to pitch in JUST a few bucks now to fuel my underdog campaign to victory.

PLEASE DONATE HERE

I promise I’ll make you proud when we win it all.

God bless you,
Wallace Gilberry

I’m guessing most of the VC Andrews catalogue is banned if “Flowers in the Attic” is banned.

This book had just come out my senior year in high school. I attended a Catholic, all girl high school and I got in trouble for writing a book review for our school paper about it. In the words of the administration, “It wasn’t appropriate reading for young ladies.” Never mind that EVERYONE was either reading it, had read it, or was waiting to read it. So even in 1980, it was controversial. I bought the next book in the series and my mom threw it in the trash.

So George Santos was expelled from Congress, despite 114 Republicans and 2 Democrats(wtf) voting against this action. Santos is the 6th member to be expelled in the history of the country, that's quite a feat.

Santos lied about everything from education, career history, and ancestry..it's pretty impressive..

The fact that the Speaker of the House didn't vote to expel him is crazy, how can the Republican party talk about family values, morals, etc...when they are backing this scum bag.

Quote

Santos’ tenure in Congress has been scandal-ridden: He initially told bold-faced lies about his education and resume. A recent House Ethics Committee report found substantial evidence that Santos used his House campaign for his own personal benefit, misusing funds and misleading donors. He now faces a 23-count federal indictment that accuses him of stealing the identities of campaign donors and using their credit cards in unauthorized charges.

To be fair, 105 GOP members did vote to expel Santos..so there is some hope but to have the most powerful member of the party defend this guy is crazy.

It would be good if the relatively sane members of the party could somehow regain control before it all goes right over a cliff.  It's one or the other, though.

It would be great if the Dems had to run an actual progressive candidate instead of banking on "well at least he's not THAT guy".

Agreed, that worked once with Biden but that's not an effective long term strategy. I know plenty of people, including myself, who will not be voting Democrat if Biden is the candidate.

Out of the thousands of potential candidates they could find, it's like the Dems pick the worse one.

I'm considering voting for Niki Haley if she gets the nomination

It's a system of patronage and whose "turn" it is, then very rarely someone comes along with enough public support to cut to the head of the line.  Even then you know they've left a trail of bodies behind them. It's about who can raise the most money which is basically the opposite of serving the public good.

I think the Dem leadership are sane. Greedy, corrupt, & desperately trying to hang on to the same colonial-minded white supremacy.. but not batshit crazy. They're not in some fantasy world of flat earth conspiracies nor are they pandering to religious extremists and domestic terrorists. Their views may be entirely cynical but they're still grounded in reality & nonviolent in their rhetoric.

Sorry but I reject any "both sides are the same" stuff. They both kinda suck but there's a very clear difference.

The Dem leadership tries to be sane, but I think that they pander to the “Squad “ way too much.

Progressives on both sides are keeping bilaterialism off the table.

I'll be voting Biden.  As i told my sons, Vote Biden in 2024 and then we'll be able to vote for a younger person in 2028, or don't vote or vote DRUMF and we'll never have to worry about voting again.  Said I would never buy an AR, but with the ignorance in America today, there is now one in the gun safe.  They are now calling Johnson a RINO because he wants to keep the government running.  😒
