Pretty sure he Taylor meant that in a joking way. Either way I'm sure Burrow would not be happy with just one rep. He is all about preparation.

Do wonder if the contract talks dragging on affects the timeline at all. Hope not. I'm starting to get angsty even though I know that his extension is inevitable.

I am wondering the same thing.  Burrow goes out before the first preseason game and looks good throwing the ball around and hasn't been seen since.  I don't doubt Burrow hurt his calf, but I can see him being very, very cautious without an extension.  Maybe even an injury hold out.  It's very odd he's been so out of sight.

Today seems like a very important practice day. If Burrow is going to start on opening day in less than 2 weeks, doesn't he need to be on the practice field today in some limited capacity? He returned to practice last year on August 16th, I think. So he's already running way behind that timeline.

I think their first practice this week is post-cutdowns - so Wednesday?

There is 0% chance Burrow does anything physical until he has a new deal in place (his agent is also holding out Nick Bosa).

So, the real question becomes, when will his extension be announced so that he can take the field again?

The Brown family is a stubborn bunch.  It could go on for a while.

True. And sometimes that's helpful.

But in the case of Burrow, he's the 'Unicorn' generational blank check player. They do not want to make the fan base choose between Shiesty and them, as he will get 99% support.

High ankle sprains can take 6 weeks or more to heal. They can't put Ossai on IR before final cuts or he'd miss the whole year so they will have to cut someone else but can then sign them to the 53 and put Ossai on IRR. Gunter or Raymond Johnson would have to clear waivers to be brought back. Either or both could make it through the waiver jumble this week but it wouldn't be surprising if at least 1 was claimed.

You don't necessarily have to expose a DE if they want to do some roster gymnastics. They could put someone like Treyveon Williams on waivers and keep the extra DE on the 53 man, then IIR Ossai and replace him with Williams. I think Williams could make it through waivers in an undervalued, oversaturated RB market.

I think Treyveon Williams will be a surprise (to many) cut.

Yesterday was a big day with all of the cuts and the 53 man roster being formed. Today could be an even more important day. Zac Taylor has been very coy about the Burrow situation, saying as little as possible, All along the coaches have acted confident that Burrow would be ready for Cleveland, even though he hasn't been at practice in over a month. But yesterday when a reporter asked Taylor if Burrow would return to practice on Wednesday he said "We'll see," That to me is Zac-speak for "Oh, hell yeah!" I fully expect Burrow to practice today.
