The Way Too Early 2024 Draft Thread

Recommended Posts

Actually time to give thought to a rebuild to one degree or another.

Starting with a mid round draft pick is not going to do us a lot of good.

Some degree of creativity and thinking out of the Bengals box is needed,

things like actually giving up, say, a coveted draft pick to move it...

As in is out first and a third rounder worth trading up to get a top 3 O lineman

rather than the next Ogbuhei or Billy Price?

As of this morning, without the Christmas Day games, we would draft 18th.

Right smack dab in the middle of the pack, Mediocre Marvin Palookaville.

Tankathon projects

Taliese Fuaga

I think at where we draft it him Lathem or Mims.

There is only one player I would choose who isn't a tackle that if he fell I would take which is unlikely but I did see a mock with us taking him at 17 and that's Newton, since even if we resigned Reader, he wont be ready till the end of the year.

I try not to pay much attention to mocks. Other than the sure-fire “locks” (which even those get changed), the remainders are pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey.

I just happen to watch a lot of Oregon State football when I can (my late father’s Alma mater). They can usually be projected to turn out at least one solid NFL offensive lineman each year. Maybe not the all-world variety, but are technically sound and their offense is more pro-set oriented.

Fuaga impresses the heck out of me—and no, he’s not a guard. Natural RT—equally good at pass pro and run blocking.

I only started watching clips. Fuaga looked to be the strongest of the 3, Lathem looked to be the most technically sound but nothing impressive about him, just solid, Mims looks raw but has the biggest upside. At least that's what I see from the very small amount I've watched.

He's a mauler in the run game.

You say equally pass and run.

Not sure about that ..

If so he would go higher imo.

As I said, one has to watch his play on a regular basis. If one is looking for a natural RT, he is it.

And no one knows where he will go—or even if he’ll go (he is a junior)

Understood.

Replacement for Jonah..

I'm allways good with adding

future/better Olinemen.

Are they ready to give up on Justin Fields after 3 seasons?

Williams is not a "generational" QB. He's not JAG either. Some where in between...which is what Fields is.

Good call..

A new coach wants his own QB.

Contract for Fields may play into it

If Bears keep Fields and draft Harrison

no qualms..

Chicago is THE most interesting story of the draft.

I think so..

1st and 8th pick..round 1..

8th pick in every round after.

Fields vs Caleb Williams .

Marvin Harrison is there..

Another DE to pair with Sweat.

All kinds of scenarios..

You know that's how it's going to go down.

I can't say I'm certain of it but it would not surprise me at all.

Kind of like putting a $250M franchise MVP QB behind an out-of-position mediocre OT that asked to be traded.  We don't want to think they're that stupid even as they're sat in a corner eating glue with their pants on their head.

Hope springs eternal & all that.

I believe Tee stays here so no WR.

RT is the highest priority.

DT, Cover LB and Safety will come after..

It's a process of what player falls where and is he the particular type your looking for.
