Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was ruled out of Sunday's 3-0 winover the Las Vegas Raiders due to a chest injury he suffered early in the second quarter. He was transported to a local hospital for precaution, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.

Jefferson finished with two receptions for 27 yards in his first game back since being out the last seven games due to a hamstring injury.

Jefferson was injured while making an impressive 15-yard catch down the middle of the field. Raiders safety Marcus Epps delivered a perfectly-timed hit as Jefferson came down with the ball.

The Vikings' star wideout writhed on the ground before heading to the sideline and into the blue medical tent for evaluation. The game was tied at zero upon Jefferson's exit.

The All-Pro wideout has 36 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns in five games played in 2023.

Cincinnati Bengals' Week 15 opponent, Minnesota, loses Mattison, Jefferson to injury

The Cincinnati Bengals' NFL Week 15 opponent, the Minnesota Vikings, suffered key injuries during their 3-0 win Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, ahead of Saturday's Vikings-Bengals game at Paycor Stadium.

Star receiver Justin Jefferson was playing in his first game in more than two months. But he left the game after a big shot over the middle and did not return. Jefferson had two catches for 27 yards.

Vikings starting running back Alexander Mattison had 10 carries for 66 yards before leaving the game with an apparent right high ankle sprain. Ty Chandler had 12 carries for 35 yards.

In addition, the Vikings replaced their starter at quarterback, Josh Dobbs, with backup Nick Mullens.

Dobbs was 10-of-23 for 63 yards with five sacks. Mullens was 9-of-13 for 83 yards.

I expect the Bengals to come with some good energy and win this game, injuries have killed the Vikings and they are at a point where they are going to break if the Bengals can keep playing at a high level.

The defense is playing well, only giving up 1 TD to a team that had won 4 straight is impressive. The Vikings are struggling and have back ups playing at important positions all over their offense(QB, RB, and #1 WR) so this is game the Bengals should win..

Justin Jefferson day-to-day with chest injury

Published December 11, 2023 03:30 PM

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson left Sunday’s 3-0 win over the Raiders with a chest injury, but it doesn’t look like he’s facing another long-term absence from the lineup.

The injury occurred in Jefferson’s return after missing seven games with a hamstring injury and he went to the hospital to be evaluated after leaving the game. Jefferson was released in time to return to Minnesota with the team and head coach Kevin O’Connell said the team was encouraged by the wideout’s condition.

O’Connell offered another positive update on Jefferson’s health Monday. He told reporters that Jefferson is considered day-to-day and that he thinks there’s a good chance that he will be able to play against the Bengals on Saturday.

Jefferson had two catches for 27 yards against the Raiders and has 38 catches for 598 yards and three touchdowns this season.

The Vikings made a quarterback change during Sunday’s 3-0 win over the Raiders, but they haven’t made a call on who will be under center against the Bengals in Week 15.

That was the message from head coach Kevin O’Connell at Monday’s press conference. O’Connell said that the team will decide between Nick Mullens and Josh Dobbs later this week.

Mullens replaced Dobbs in the fourth quarter against the Raiders and drove the team to their only points of the day. He was 9-of-13 for 83 yards while Dobbs was 10-of-23 for 63 yards in his fourth start since being acquired in a trade with the Cardinals.

The Vikings are currently in wild card position in the NFC and they have two games left against the Lions, so winning out would make them the NFC North champions despite their quarterback issues in the wake of Kirk Cousins’ torn Achilles. Their choice for this week will have a lot of bearing on whether they can make that kind of run over the final four weeks.

One thing is for certain: the Nordic fans do travel well—even if many likely “travel” only within the Tri-State.

The last time they were here, there were multitudes of them at PBS. That “skol” crap was going on at every concourse level.

Aint gonna happen this week.

Bengal fans will drown out any pathetic attempt at weak Viking hoopla...

This is the Bengal Jungle..

Viking raiders game. I tried to see how Vikings play. I can’t gather much from these lowlights. Vikings have good defensive rankings. It’s a rough watch. I do think they go with muellens. Dobbs seems to watch rush

Bottom Line Mike ..

We're going to break their spirit and beat  them up.

A win ...no matter the score.

You know it.
