Schedules subject to change if the NFL ditches their current scheduling formula, does a realignment, expands, or does anything else fucked-up.

There was perfect symmetry before the stupid 17th game was added: four divisions (per conference) of four teams and four 4-game fourths to the season schedule. And there was history. You could compare each team's season with the record of teams past. Now there is no accurate comparison. It's apples and oranges, or something.

Zimmer got the DC job in Dallas and he brought Paulie Guenther in as the defensive running game coordinator. That was the Cowboys’ Achilles heel on D last season, especially in big games.

It will be interesting to see what happens there. Their front seven is pretty small and they got manhandled vs. big, physical OLs so they need some ballast there. And they need Mazi Smith to step up… he wasn't good as a rookie; another example of interior DL taking some time to develop.

Timing might not fit. He didn't play last year off our practice squad but isn't technically retired.

Assistant coaches make more than PS guys. He probably helped with coaching the Active roster guys anyway. Why wouldn't he take the job if offered? If he were offered an active roster spot himself by the Bengals or another team, that would pay more than the coaching gig but if it didn't happen last year, it's not likely this season as he's another year older.

Why them?

Both beloved by teammates, the assistant special teams role has gone to a guy who hasn't had a ton of coaching experience

Thomas played all teams. Huber punted for like 20 years.

Huber is still in the city I think

Yeah, assistant special teams coach is an entry level job. Sort of like quality control for offense or defense.

Thomas and Huber have served the team well and know special teams. It's hardly a stretch to make one an assistant to Simmons. The team will hire someone for the job.
