Another clip of him erasing Murphy ... 36" arms are nearly impossible to get free from.

Almost unfair to have that big and athletic  obstacle in the way .

Murphys game will only improve facing Amarius thru practices.

I predict by Week 10...(Chargers, Titans...) are going to be kicking themselves.

In Weeks 11 & 15, Mims will do it for them.

One-half of an article about Mims from The Athletic & Paul Dehner:

CINCINNATI — Edge rusher Myles Murphy was viewed as a prototypical, first-round prospect coming out of Clemson in 2023. At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, he provided an impressive combination of professional size, power and speed.

That made the vision of Murphy being engulfed by Amarius Mims all the more jarring.

As the Bengals’ most recent first-round picks collided in one-on-one drills during a practice last week, the entire outline of Mims’ preposterously athletic 6-8, 350-pound frame could be seen around Murphy’s bull rush.

Much like his first three months in the NFL, the first two days in pads Mims was doing exactly what he was told to do.

“Play big,” Mims said. “Play 6-8, 350.”

The 2024 NFL Draft’s 18th pick out of Georgia calls that the best piece of advice he received — it actually came from his competition at right tackle, 6-8, 360-pound Trent Brown.

The job he’s done translating playbook and advice to playmaking and execution has turned him into arguably the biggest story of Bengals’ camp. Mims has looked right at home taking every rep as the starting right tackle. With every snap, he looks like a guy capable of being the first Bengals rookie to start at offensive tackle in the opener since Anthony Muñoz.

“All the red flags that would prevent a player like Amarius from having long-term success in this league, we haven’t seen any of them,” offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher said. “It’s still early. He’s got to stack good days on good days on good days. And he’s a rookie and he’s going to have things that pop up that he’s going to have to overcome, but when you just talk about character traits and work ethic, confidence, humility, being a good teammate, fitting in with the guys, feeling like this isn’t too big — all those things: Check, check, check, check, check, check.”

You never know, for sure. The Bengals brought every projected first-round offensive tackle in for a visit. They spent 24 hours with sll of them. Dinners, whiteboard work, time with people from all corners of the building. This was the design from the earliest stages of the draft process with a desire to pinpoint a personality match they believe in with the talent level.

From scouts to coaches to the front office, they were sold Mims was the right type of guy.

But you never know.

Drawing conclusions about any rookie offensive linemen after four padded practices lands somewhere between unfair and reckless.

But there is intuition. There is a gut. And nobody’s gut means more in Cincinnati than the one Mims was drafted to protect.

“You can get a feeling, you know, you don’t know 100 percent,” quarterback Joe Burrow said. “But my feeling on that guy is pretty good right now. His mindset, his athleticism, his size, his willingness to be coached, grow and learn is all an A-plus. So, sky’s the limit for that guy, I’m really excited he’s on our team.”

A-plus. You heard the man.

Just watch RT 71 ...

Mims will start on opening day. You know that they (almost) treated him like all of the other starters. They didn't leave him out there a long time for evaluation purposes. They already knew what they have in Mims.

Not really, every team knew he was a top 5 -10 talent he just simply did not have enough college games under his belt.

Plus there were so many high quality OTs with more college tape to choose from in the first half of the draft. If it had been a poor or even average year, Mims and his lack of college snaps would not have made it to slot 18.

A little longer but not very from what I could tell. Think he was in with the 2's for a bit? Probably wanted to get a certain amount of video to coach from & then pulled him.

Mims got 15 snaps last night. The other 4 OL starters got 12 each. Not much difference.

He played twice as many drives…

…the second drive just happened to be a three-and-out.  🤨
