|BlackJesus|
The same 5 players still remain unsigned from Rd 1, including Mims. I keep hoping the Vikings will get Turner done (the pick before). ... Not sure what the holdup is. But Duke needs to get this done and quit dicking around.
Le Tigre
Goes both ways. Every day without a contract could always lead to the freak accident/fell in my driveway injury. Of course, if the Bengals aren’t talking…
Cricket
…perhaps they already have an agreement in place and they’re just waiting for Mims to come in for training camp to actually sign the paperwork. Don’t we frequently see players signed on the first day of camp or the day before?

Don’t we frequently see players signed on the first day of camp or the day before? No reason to think there is an agreement already in place. Signings are announced right before the start of camp because that's when the talks intensify. Devon Witherspoon was the last 1st rounder to sign last year, missing the first few days of training camp until an agreement was reached and a contract signed. If an agreement hasn't been reached with Mims by the start of training camp, he will be sitting out those important practices until a contract gets signed.

I mean how much extra could he make on his rook deal holding out? The part about Bengals not addressing it up to now is odd as well. Is this due to his agent or what?
|BlackJesus|
Came across this quote from Mel Kiper, two weeks before the draft ... Says Mims could have been a top 3 pick with another year. “I think the guy to roll the dice with is Amarius Mims from Georgia. Had he played more games than eight in his career as a starter, he could have been in the top 10, maybe top five. He’s that gifted. The arm length, the size; he’s a mountain of a man. He can move. He played really well when he was out there healthy. Another year [in college], you’d have been looking at a top five, top three guy possibly, certainly a top 10. So if you’re going to roll the dice on talent and take a leap of faith that we can coach him up, and [that] inexperience isn’t going to be a factor working against him, Amarius Mims from Georgia would be that guy.” https://www.nashvillepost.com/sports/football/espns-kiper-on-titans-in-round-one-alt-or-amarius-mims/article_04a396c6-f907-11ee-9a81-3b8f63a1db7c.html
