The Bengals did a lot of work to dig themselves out of an 0-3 hole over the last few weeks, but that progress was hard to notice when Sunday’s game against the Eagles came to an end.

After Chase Brown’s touchdown run tied the game at 17-17 in the third quarter, the Bengals gave up the next 20 points on their way to a 37-17 loss that dropped them to 3-5 on the season. They are also winless at home, but neither of those things is dimming quarterback Joe Burrow’s hopes for the season.

Burrow said at his postgame press conference that 10 wins is usually enough to get into the playoffs and called winning seven of the remaining nine games “doable” for the Bengals.

“We’ve done it before,” Burrow said, via a transcript from the team. “I know the players we’ve got in there. You’ve just got to treat it week by week. Any game is winnable. You’ve just got to go and do it.”

The path to 10 wins starts with a home game against the Raiders next Sunday and a loss there won’t create much support for Burrow’s belief in the team’s long-term hopes for the season.

I would place the likelihood of this at about 25%, so not impossible, However, I think it is only possible if the Bengals win the next 2 games to get to 5-5 and then only have to go 5-2 after that.

A loss in any of the next 2 games, and I do not believe the team can go 6-1 down the stretch (too small of a margin for error), so really the next 2 games will decide whether this season is lost or not.

This is Joe being a leader. I don't know if he actually believes this.

Sure, that's part of it. I commend him for saying it. I just find it really hard to believe. They have to play a lot better for it to happen, and even if they play a lot better, they have to close out games and they've clearly shown an inability to do that... at least, against good teams.

Now that the Browns have a QB that isnt God awful, that 2nd game isnt going to be an automatic win. In fact the rest of this division is going to be the "make or break" for the season. I just don't see how we sweep the rest of the division games.

Totally. I think even 3-3 would be a pretty big stretch.

Winston may be benched by the second time that game rolls around, that guy is as inconsistent as they come at the QB position. Cleveland may still beat this team.

I think it’s time to face reality. This just isn’t that good of a team, and the coaching ineptitude magnifies this teams weaknesses. Other teams know how to take advantage of Bengals but Bengals “take what the other team gives them”.

It would sound a lot better if they hadn't just lost to an Eagles team they were favored to beat.

That is absolutely crazy to me.  I would've had Philly at -5 at least, IDK what team people are watching.

It is POSSIBLE but not PROBABLE

"Well, it certainly makes it a lot harder from here on out. I just need to lose 50 pounds and earn $50 Million dollars by December, then I'm sure Jennifer Connelly will date me, and then who knows what can happen. You just have to get hot at the right time. I feel like I've been close every time I've asked her, so I'm just taking it one week at a time and we'll see what happens."

Burrow is playing pretty well on the whole. He isn't holding the team back. We have one of the largest O-lines in the league but can't seem to run the ball well. That's more of a Pollack problem.

Yeah, I don't blame Joe. He's played really well overall.

This offense can't run the ball when they need to. Yesterday, they put in 2 TEs plus 6 OL to get a yard on 3rd and one... and get knocked backwards (for example). I put that on the players, certainly. But Pollack is the run game coordinator and the OL coach, he's been here for several years, and they've never been good at getting much movement in the run game. And they suck on 3rd and 4th and short. It's past time for him to go.

Same for some of the D coaches.

183, 164, 222.  Last 3 games passing yards for Burrow,  the first 2 with Tee in the lineup.  154 against the Patriots.  That is 4 bad games out of 8.

He did well against the Ravens and Panthers, 2 teams with terrible defenses.

He is being paid $55 mil a year to be better than this. I know our defense sucks but there is no excuse to get our teeth kicked in at home by 20.

I actually think the Browns with Winston at QB have a better shot at the playoffs than we do and no Winston is not better than Burrow.

Imagine any other organization wasting this much aura ...

... This season was doomed when they didn't extend Ja'Marr. It showed the front office wasn't serious about making it to New Orleans. 🏆

Moving Jonah to RT is when I really started to question their "New Dey" rah-rah stuff.
